In his 40-year career as an archaeologist, Jason Wood has travelled the world, searching for Roman remains in Jordanian citadels and helping to restore royal palaces in Nepal. But his recent project was a little less exotic: digging up a patch of grass by some woods in Bradford. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news...ground?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Copy_to_clipboard

You can still see the old Anlaby Rd terraces in winter when the foliage dies. Looks like the above, except there are venomous newts patrolling aggressively.
Just so you understand what they are comparing it to. Angkor Wat. please log in to view this image I know they are not real comparing the two like for like.
Talkng about favourite players we had seen in the pub a while ago and a chap in his sixties said Kevin Hector. Which drew blank looks from the younger ones. He is a big Bradford City fan, still goes back to watch them regularly. He was in the fire at Valley Parade, a very lucky man who owes his life tomacquick thinking, and brave, copper. Anyhow, he said that though he was a Bradford Ciy fan he, and others, used to go to Park Avenue just to see Hector. He preferred The Park Avenue ground to the .Valley Parade one of the time.
Amazing to read about how large that city was compared to other ones at that time. Only a tiny part has been excavated. There was an interesting programme on where they used new cameras which can see through the foliage and show the outlines of where old buildings, canals etc were from aerial photos. The scale of the place was amazing. A place I would have loved to visit.
I have heard people mention Kevin .pHector being born in Hull before and referring to him as one who got away. But he was born in Leeds and signed for .Bradford Park Avenue as a junior.
Yeah, strange one that. When he was playing it was always said was born in Hull, probably the Green Sports Mail, but I also read somewhere that he was a Leeds lad. Didn't he play for Brian Clough at Derby if memory serves me well ?
He did play for Derby, but I also remember the story about the link with Hull, thought it was because he a junior.Anyway the goalkeeper for Derby at the time was Les Green born in Hull
Sorry need to check my facts re Les Green, wasn’t born in Hull but played for City 1960-62 before going to Nuneaton, eventually went to Derby. Was only 5ft 8 but very agile.
He won the league with Clough at Derby. Won it again there under Mackay. Holds the appearance record for Derby as well. Quite a goal scoring record. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_Hector
