I've probably screwed the maths up, but you get the gist: As some seem to be shouting for Mr Allam (a newby) to dig into his pocket yet again, I'm sure nobody would object to an increase in turnstile prices and passes to cover it? 10,000 passes increased by £200 IS £2,000,000. Add on the income from pay on the day and away fans and we're laughing. Nobody should really object, it's small potatoes to each individual compared to Mr Allam finding it himself. The return on the investment could come by way of a free pass the first year in the Prem. Piece of piss this accounting lark.
Isnt it Nick Barmby who is "shouting" for money for team strengthening? Speaking of which I'm pretty certain after the financial rewards from the game Nick has he can stump up a couple of million for a new forward or two.
I don't listen to local radio nor buy the HDM, and I'd take much that's presented from an interview with a pinch of salt, so no, it wasn't Nick Barmby I was referring to as shouting for money, but thanks for letting me clarify that. As for Nick chipping in, the drop in wages he took to com here in the first place could be his contribution. So, I guess we'll all be happy to pay more next season to get players in? It's only fair.
I'd rather just get rid of Oli, Mcshane, Ghilas and Garcia. Then get a cool £1 million from the ever generous papa Allam. What's a million to a multimillionaire? Why's he been such a tight bastard, get your cheque book out and start writing old man. Edit: Im only half joking.
Amazingly I do, that's where I picked up on FANS talking of splashing the cash. I'm not arguing, or even that interested right now in what Nick has or hasn't been reported as saying. To use that would then destroy the arguments of those that say Phil Brown shouldn't have gambled the clubs future. That's largely irrelevant to this point, which goes back to early in the season. Money has to come from somewhere, if we're not prepared to invest relatively small amounts, we can hardly call someone that's chucked in tens of millions.
Yes it does. So is Nick being disloyal or ridiculous asking for funds. Barmby admits a lack of strength in depth has ultimately cost the Tigers dearly this term and plans to avoid a similar shortfall by bolstering his squad ahead of next season. Owner Assem Allam, who has invested over £50m since taking over at the KC in December 2010, stated in January that money would be made available to Barmby. And now City's ambitious manager wants to see those pledges honoured by seeing key new arrivals funded ahead of 2012-13. "The fans will be looking forward to it and we owe it to the fans to show them that this club is moving forward and is ambitious," Barmby told the Mail. "I don't want to manage any other club. This is the only club I want to manage, but when I manage this club I want ambition. "I'm as ambitious as anyone with this club. I want to see massive ambition for us and for our city. "I want to know that we're going places. I'm no different from any fan. Everyone was saying the right things (when I took the job) and now we've got to back that up. "We owe it to the fans to back what we've said." Barmby's words appear to be a direct rallying cry to the Allam family not to undermine the progress made over the last 12 months with an inactive summer. Comments made by Barmby in yesterday's Mail, where the City boss admitted he was awaiting a "green light" to put his plans into action, drew a short response from the Allams. A statement on behalf of the family read: "Our duty is to concentrate on the next four matches and end the season as high up the table as possible; that is our priority. "There will be plenty of opportunity to discuss what we will do next season after that." Barmby insists there is no unease between himself and the board, but admits he remains unsure how big a war-chest he'll be given in summer. Head of football operations Adam Pearson has suggested funds will be sparse and the bulk of business will be done in the free transfer market. Barmby admits several targets have been earmarked, but he wants money to spend in the right areas. "We have identified people on free transfers but if you're going for a striker to put pressure on the other strikers, it's going to cost a few quid," he added. "No one is saying anything about marquee players. I don't want a name player who wants to come here and wind down. That won't be happening, those days are long gone. "But maybe you need to pay out money for a striker or a midfielder who can really come in and hit the ground running."
Why buy a club if u aint gonna splash some cash?,Egotism?,step aside and release us to someone who is willing to see us progress,i thought the lack of vision and ambition in the jan transfer was a bit shocking.
You're having a separate argument Chaz. I've already said that for the purpose of this point, it's immaterial what the papers report him as having said or not said, but in any event Nick HAS made a financial contribution to the club. The point is FANS have asked for more money to be spent. The question is will YOU or anyone else be prepared to stump up just the few hundred quid on top of the pass price? There's a return in the promise of a free pass on promotion. Spending money = promotion according to some on here so it should be a sound investment. Who's up for it?
Why the fk shud i have to dip my hand in my pockets?,ive paid enough over the years and i am not the one with 320m according to the rich list, but if i did i woudnt buy city for 51m(loan) then not buy players,,thats just cruel.
So your let's say £3,000 over, let's guess at 10 years equates to his £51 million at a time when he could have kept it in his pocket and let us disappear? Is the sky still blue in the world where you live?
Ive prob spent 10%-15% of my lifes earnings on watching city over 23yrs, making my contribution enourmous should i be a half a billionaire.Besides the point buying a club then not making money available for players is a bit like caging a tiger to show yer mates.Id rather have duffer back wheeling n dealing giving me entertainment and ambition not the piss poor dross being served up at the mo by a dull mid table or worse championship team at best.Someone would have turned up and saved us anyway.......They always do/will!!
Right, so you spend 15% of your money on City, but won't put £200 to buy a player? You sound like the sort that, rather than paying back the local community, you'd have used the £51 million to buy a pre-packed prem club. Out of curiosity, could you list just a few of these people that were lining up to save us over the years?
Needlers,Fish,Lloyd,Pearson, duffer and allems...to be continued.Someone always turns up and some will always be better than others!
NURSE, I think the medication's too weak. You'd gamble the whole existence of the Club in the hope of the next David Lloyd or Buchanan turning up rather than invest £200 of your own money, money you reckon you spend on the Club anyway? I bet Burnsey recognises your voice when you phone in. "I didn't go today Burnesy but...".
I still remember the Allams 'expecting' other local interest for investment in return for places on the board. As i said earlier, who is this Richardson bloke he mentioned at the start
