Nice to see the whole fluid football and 'between the lines' isn't just what people on this forum want and it's actually being put into practice.

It's also good that someone recognises that Nolan, especially, was not as important as some people think! It would have been great to keep Barton but I feel the team has a lot more pace and, as she said, fluidity about it (I hope I'm not just being bitter and deluded when I say that!).

    Good read.

    ------------------Krul-----------------
    Simpson --- Saylor --- Colo --- Enrique
    Barton --- Cabaye --- Tiote --- Jonas
    ----------------Ben Arfa-------------
    ------------------Best----------------

That's the team I'd choose if we didn't sell any players in the summer. However, Santon may end up being as good as Enrique, and Marveaux could end up being better than Barton, so if that turns out to be correct, I wouldn't take anyone at all.

This article though praises us, shes still guff for me. She has to throw in the odd bit of her imagination to try and give the story an edge. We know there was no problem between Barton and Cabaye. Cabaye spoke well of him before and after he left and they looked best of buddies at QPR. He was the first to welcome him. Also Barton would have been first choice I'd imagine, I doubt Obertan would have been bought. He was because the board knew they wanted shot of Barton regardless and Ashley trumped Barton in their ego driven little game of poker by forcing his hand. Pardew liked Barton and knew he was a very good footballer who brought a lot to the table.

In general though the article is well put together and a fair reflection of the positive aspects of recent changes.

In the friendly at Leeds (I think) there were heavy stories that Barton had a go at Cabaye because he was given corner kick duties.

And Cabaye even said in an interview something like Barton sometimes makes training a little tense.

They may have made up now, but there could have well been a little bit of a problem between them - enough to create some uncomfortable moments.

Heard lots of stories that (funnily enough) the players who have been sold on were the core of the dressing room player power (jose/barton/nolan/carroll) and had too much influence with CH.
Seems to be correct then, didn't buy into it at the time but when you think we nearly lost saylor over carroll and look at the off field ****e.Just seems funny joey joins twitter then is gone makes you wonder did he get advise from jose and the rest, who knows but the squad seem happier and more relaxed.

Agree with the bit on Nolan not moving the ball about quick enough, always thought his goals clouded how much ability he actually had and lack of pace was often detrimental to the teams playing style.
