Both arriving from Liverpool and Tranmere respectively on frees on 1/7/2012 Looks like we are doing freebies this season. Amoo interesting signing has plenty of pace looked more than useful when playing for Bury last season. Buchanan was Tranmere's player of the year, which says a lot about him
Interestingly, the recent signings are out of contract but apart from Amoo they could have renewed their contracts but would rather sigh for PNE. All, exxcept for Amoo, were key players for their teams, bedrock type from the little I can gather. However, those teeams were hardly earth shattering successes. The proof of the pudding with these ingredients will be in theeating.
I think the phrase free is the important bit, strangely feeling a bit optimistic about next season, GW said we were short of leaders so he's brought 4 ex captains in. Amoo's got pace which is something we lack. If we keep Coutts, Mayor and Hume we could have a half decent side
The fw games I have seen over the past signings I thought we had a defence that would not or could not tackle. I know the situation has changed since I last crocked a winger, but I saw some poor defencive play by PNE recently. If GW does bring in players that know how to tackle, then I think our fowards will fill their socks next season.
I suppose it worked for Chelsea! Was there a rumour that Jon Parkin was on his way back to Deepdale? Just before he was transferred to Cardiff, a friend of mine suggested that if his header that smacked the post against United in the semi-final paly off had gone in, NE would have gone on to win the final and be in the Premiership the next season. So much for speculation! Andd Mr. Irvine would have probably be a sought after manager. A very pleasant chap, and I am glad he still has a coaching job with Everton NE have certainly gone through managers since Mr. Moyes left. I hope GW is given time to develope a good footballing team.
