Hello All Never posted before so here goes! I like to think of myself as a sensible and level headed invidual, but this Becchio saga has really got me riled! How much more do we have to put up with as Leeds fans? How many more of our best players do we have to lose (due to a lack of ambition) before people refuse to hand over their hard earned cash to watch a team of second rate individuals? It doesn't say much for the ambitions of 'GFH' (it would be helpful if they actually shed some light on who is backing them and what their plan is) when they say that they cannot meet Becchio's demands due to incoming fair play rules - after all they clearly aren't planning on additional revenues from either promotion and/or sponsorship? Leeds is a one club city. The club has a rich history and an amazing fan base. Wherever you go in the world people know about 'Leeds Utd' and whilst I appreciate that we don't have a god given right to be in the PL, I cannot understand how/why over the last 10 YEARS those running the club have not managed to persuade SERIOUS investors that with a bit of shrewd investment, we could be back where (in my opinion at least) we belong. It makes no sense, and yes (if anyone who does have any power at Leeds happens to stumble on this post) I think I could do a better job than you! Anyway, rant over. I'll get back to my day job!
Welcome to the forum When I read that myself I smelt BS I am starting to believe GFH is Bates in disguise.
Welcome mate, we're not a bad bunch here on the whole so hopefully we're not too intimidating Unfortunately there doesn't seem to much light at the end of the tunnel at the moment. We can only hope that Becchio CHOSE to hand in a transfer request and was not forced into it, and that his wage demands really could be deemed unreasonable and not just for our tight wage structure. Hopefully we'll see GFH preparing the club in all areas and suiting it to them in the background and really getting to grips with things next season, with a new manager, better players and some bloody investment for once. Until then, I think it's worth writing this season off completely.
no ambition from the new owners so whats changed ? mmmmm oh yeah on second thoughts how about less ambition, its all so bloody tragic, fantastic club, fantastic city, the nightmare goes on nearly nine years out of top flight and NO progress or real ambition in getting back -------why ????
The news is not great but the Becchio situation is complex. He is 29. At the end of his contract he will be 30. Getting £4m for him at this stage wouldn’t be bad business. And for all we know he could have asked for a new contract of £50k a week until he’s 34. From the statement on the OT it doesn’t sound like the club want him to go and will only sell if we get the right offer. This seems to be a different approach to Bates panic selling the likes of Howson, Gradel and Snodgrass. I’m not blindlessly defending GFH. They have been really crap at communicating with the fans. But today’s news doesn’t necessarily mean that we’ve gone back to the ‘sell at any price’ era of the last regime.
Welcome to Bates Vol. II aka GFH. The next will probably be that we have to leave ER and TA because we can’t pay the rent any more!!!!
