This seems to cover a few threads on here in one blog..... http://www.ambernectar.org/blog/2013/01/things-we-think-we-think-82/
Has a go at both the stewarding (and that sounds fair enough) and the plods - the PCC's reply is classic bullshit and evasion.
And the picture of the ghetto of excellence guys in the KC is quality - why the f*ck would the stewards be bothered with a crowd that size...
This stewards situation has gone on far too long. it must be the best part of 5 years it has been identified as a p[roblem by fans (I dont recall it being an issue in the early days at KC). Is anyone actively doing anything to engage with the club about this? Cos it will drive people away.
I watched the stewards taking down the Ghetto of Excellence flag on Saturday. A more useless, pathetic bunch of jobsworths you'll never meet.
Double standards, Leeds, Huddersfield, Yorkshire teams, may be trouble, early kick off. Sheff Wed, Yorkshire team, may be trouble, Sky showing it, its ok at 5.30 then. Bloody nonsense thinking.
And there was trouble at the Sheff Wednesday game but not the lunch time kick-offs, if anything it just proves their point!. Changing a sky game for police resons must be near impossible, look how often the Manchester derby is on super sunday, it's always mayhem in Manchester after that, if the police could they'd have put a stop to that by now.
When I was fourteen, I was made to leave my seat in the East Stand, walk to the concourse and get a plastic cup to pour half a tin of coke out of a... wait for it... CAN. Dun dun duuuun!
Having lived in Manchester, I think there was more bother on the day of the Man Utd Liverpool game. Pubs in the city centre, Didsbury etc would close after full time and re-open early evening on the day of that game
I've heard similar from friends who live in Didsbury, although they said that recent derby day's have got a lot worse.
Suppose it's out of respect to Kingston Engineering and the advertising board the flag originally covered. Presumably an underling hi viz helpfully then allowed it to be draped over an empty block of seats. Then it was realised that the flag could catch fire and it might quickly spread to the rest of the ground, or that it would incense the notoriously volatile Toby Tykes and cause mass disorder. (Strange though that the Barnsley flags displayed in the no man's land near E1 were not deemed to be a similar high risk inflammable nature or riot-inducing)
If either of our rugby league clubs fans had an original banner/flag made like the Ultras or the Ghetto of Excellence banner we would be sick of hearing about how wonderfully original they are. Sadly we have people employed by the club in a stewarding capacity who think they have to justify there existence. Perhaps they should actually be taken on a bus trip organised by the club, and take several decision makers from Humberside Police and a sprinkling of influential councillors, to a proper ground on a matchday to see how its done. I would suggest Man City, Everton or Reading for starters. .. Tuned into Sports Talk tonight with Mike White and Pete Smurthwaite, who I can listen too. White was defending the show against several texts/emails claiming the show was negative towards City and claims that they encourage texts from people who don't go to City games and rugby league **** stirrers. Then he read out five negative City related texts on the trot. One person rang in. He was pro-City. The Smurf made a good point about FA Cup crowds at City and he thought we should have attracted a bigger gate v Barnsley if only to show support of the Allams. I agreed with him. White tried too but forgot how he had rubbished the FA Cup with Matt Dean on the night City played Orient in the replay. He just doesn't get it at all. The same radio station who couldn't bring themselves to show any enthusiasm for the 4th Rd game yet produced a breathtaking trailer to encourage fans to attend and publise the rugby derby FRIENDLY match two weeks previously. Then rubbish the crowd City get. The quicker we get a resident proper Hull City supporting anchorman on the local sports shows the better, not people who didn't know Hull had a football club pre PL and show a total lack of respect, knowledge and interest when talking about our club.
I dont understand smurthy, he's been involved in football all his life. Given up loads of his spare time to play, coach and manage local football teams. Yet he thinks more about FC than City.
