Likely the damage has been done to a degree. Amazon as some will know stopped or were going to stop all visa cards on 19th Jan 2022. this would of course mean millions world wide would /or have changed from visa to mastercard and a couple other card purveyors. I have! half of AMAZON sales were reported via VISA about $386bn so loss of 2% of that by VISA is a big hit [ VISA likely losing 2% of about £150bn 50% ish] thats £3000000000 per annum!! Now VISA is cap in hand to Amazon ... we will reduce the fee we charge you ... so for those that may not have known on 20th Jan you may have had transaction stopped this is not happening anymore, for the moment anyway. Damage has been done though Amazon paid out a lot when you transferred to another provider so how many will swap back?

Couldn’t you just use a debit instead of a credit card?

the debit card although " with cash in bank" has visa coverage and whilst you do not get charged a fee [ some companies etc might do ] visa has a levy/charge to supplier but a lot less than a credit card, and readily absorbed my most vendors. should I go to bank and get £100 of 50p's costs me £100 .. a business would get charged £103 or thereabouts....
