...this one really makes my ****ing blood boil.

We signed a Welsh youngster from Hull called Daniel James over the summer. We paid £72,000.
The paperwork had to go through the FAW to FIFA for international clearance.
We waited, and waited (he's played 2 x Wales U-21 games since his move but is only eligible for our U-18s)...9 weeks later and it's a Non!

Apparently some arsehole at the FAW can't get it together to fill out FIFA's paperwork correctly!
So a Welsh youngster signed by a Welsh club is having his career harmed because of some dickheads in Cardiff and Zurich having a disagreement about how to fill out a form!!!

Agreed Terror - there was a thing Yankee posted the other day saying the same thing. Unfortunately, the beaurocrats in football from FIFA right down the line couldn't run a piss up in a brewery. But the FAW is notorious and is run by men in grey suits who have never played the game at a higher level if at all and don't understand the game one bit.

I really despise Roy Keane but if you remember it was a similar amateurish approach by the FAI that caused a bust up there and he had a point. Absolutely useless the lot of them, and I hope we take legal action rather than 'contemplate' it as the article suggests.

Yet more evidence that the men in charge of the sport haven't got a ****ing clue. I really hope this is sorted out for the lad's sake.

But DB, it's not a question of whether the "men in gray suits" have ever played the game or not. That really doesn't matter. The FAW is a business, like any other business, and should be run like a business with professionally competent people. The fact that administrative staff at the FAW cannot fill out a simple form and perform with proper diligence to ensure that their work is of the highest quality and that their customers (the club and player in this case) are well served is an utter disgrace.

The clubs should band together and sort this out - fire the people in charge and hire professionals.

I commented on the functioning of the web site on another thread when trying to find a page that should have had the squad updates - whoever designed and built the site has never used it or verified that it is usable and functions as it should.

I agree with that Yankee but some understanding about how football works, how transfers are handled and so on, not just from a club's point of view but what a player goes through too - all that would help imo but they don't have a clue. Failing that, as you rightly say you don't have to have been a player to be an effective administrator per se.

We are ruled by two countries and that the problem. Allowances should be made for this as it's not fair to the club and certainly not fair to the player...

it astounds me that a player needs clearance to go from England to Wales, absolute madness
