So the season is here, were going to old trafford with "what weve got",too late for any new additions now, do we start with amat or barkley, gomis or bony or both perhaps . personally id go for amat at cb, bony to start with gomis coming on in the last 30 mins
Amat at RB, Bartley at CB. Bony at CF. Gomis to play #10 if that's feasible. United will likely play three at the back. This is the ideal situation for a big, highly mobile #9 .... perhaps Gomis should start ahead of Bony. It will be easier to figure out after a few games and we really get to see how Gomis, Montero and Sig measure up.
agree Assuming Siggy, Ki (the wonder kid) and Shelvey are the more central trio who gets the two wide berths from Dyer, Routs or Montero?
Gomis and Montero definitely need to feature for at least 30 minutes so they get a real taste of PL football (and to have the experience of playing at Old trafford)
Bartley you mean? I like him but he has a lot to learn - thing is I'm not sure he'll get much game time because the improving Amat will start imo a nd it looks like Fernandez is arriving. Bony up front - personally I'd like to see Gomis tucked in behind him but not sure if that's feasible. Stil think it's about damage limitation, sorry.
Amat and Bartley have different strength but neither is a complete player yet. I'd prefer Amat for Sat. as he seems to be a bit cooler and Bartley took a knock last week and could need subbing early on. More important, I think, will be the performance of the player at DM. But you are rights out damage limitation, unfortunately.
I think Bartley and Amat are on par, though Bartley edges it for me if he is fit, Manu have not got a full strength team, so that should help a bit and we know that Monk will not go with 4-4-2, so all should be well, looking forward to Siggy sitting just behind Bony, hope we give Manu a right game, and Monk sets out his stall from the whistle, and no dodgy subs please Monk, and may the injuries all be in Red!.................
both are equal and part of our weakness atm. they have the potential and hopefully monk will have taught them a thing or two about our way of defending and they wont be running around like headless chickens leaving the goal wide open. they must keep their shape and know exactly where their team mates are.
Why not go 3-5-2 everyone including myself think that we are going to lose so why not have a real go,what have we got to lose?
We are rubbish with two up front imo and leaving 3 at the back is asking for trouble against a side like united. this is just my opinion..
Not sure there's much to choose between Amat and Bartley, but whoever it is Man Utd will be odds-on favourites to win this game. I suspect they will - Van Gaal will want them off to a flying start. If we can keep it to 2-0 or 3-1 that will be an 'acceptable' defeat. Onward to Burnley when the season starts in earnest. Having said that, I would very much like us to start taking more points off the top sides this season. But I don't think it will start tomorrow.
Neither at the back 4... 3-2-4-1..Good a time as any to try a sort of plan b. Put Amat or Bartley beside Shelvey as the 2 in front of the defense while we wait on Fernandez.
Goal difference IMO is important but this is chance to to have a go at united .When we played them last season ididnt think there was a huge gulf between the teams.if we concede few it's the opening game of the season against a top team we still have plenty more games to catch up.Personally I think we are good enough to stay up and this is a chance to try something new
If we are going to go with 2 up front then we will have to drop a winger not a defender, and I'd want Siggy in his correct position feeding our front two and maybe Taylor can push forward a tad more as a wing back, but other than this then I would prefer us to play our usual 4-2-3-1, thank you!.............
I too would have liked us to try 3-5-2, but after seeing what Monks thoughts are on this on Thursday, if he doesn't think that we have the personnel to be able to do this then he knows best. It is obviously something he has looked at and he knows our strengths and what our players are capable of. I think we are going to see a lot of cross field passes to our wingers missing out the midfield. He alluded to this aswell.
Bartley is the Frank Bruno of centre halves, looks the part ,has the size and strength but just looks manufactured and lacking fight and brain. If he was much cop Arsenal wouldn't have flogged him for a £1m quid . He needs a few years in the lower leagues learning his craft. Also, looks like to me that he thinks he has already made it in life, ive yet to see him put a 90 min performance together in the two years he has been here, but i get the impression he thinks he is the dogs bollocks. Give me Amat any day of the week.
