Norwich are interested in signing Amat according to some reports.

I hope he stays with us as I can see him as a quality replacement for ash when the time comes, the problem is tho that he will have limited game time for the foreseeable future and may decide that he needs playing time for the benefit of his career. My fear is that Norwich Can offer him a better deal than what we can ATM.

    What do you guys think?

Norwich can offer him first team footie. I really like him and see him as the natural replacement for Ash. That said, maybe the rumour Taff has heard about Michu going to Celtic and our interest in their defender has some substance to it?

I'd be happy with Virgil van Dijk TBH and would definitely be a good Amat replacement.

Agree. Where is Amat anyway? Is he injured?

V didn't have a bad game either,I thought both him and Bartley did a solid job for us...but really, why should we give direct rivals a helping hand by flogging amat?

I don't think Celtic have any players good enough. Malmo have just put them out of the Champions League - a team who we beat 4-0. They are championship players at best.

Southampton seem to be the club that VVD is likely to go to according to reports £10 mill

Amat played well enough last night and considering he hasn't played since mid/late last season I thought he looked fit .I think Bartley considers himself as Ash's replacement in that when ever he and Amat play together Bartley is the one who organises the defence . I think it's down to whether Amat is happy to remain a 3rd/4th choice centre half or not. He may not get a chance to establish himself with us as 1st choice for a few years yet .

Problem is keeping Amat happy with little game time. I think if a club offers the asking price for a player and that player wants to leave then we shouldn't get in the way because it never ends well for both club and player. That's the fear I have with losing Amat.

Also I think Fernández is destined for a big club in a few years time and Amat will be his natural replacement.

The problem with Fernandez is his distribution out of defence which has cost us on several occasions including last week at Sunderland.

Every player has their moments but Fernandez and Ash had one of the best defensive record last season. Fernandez is a top quality player and we're blessed to have a player of his caliber in our team IMO

No player at any level will be a 100% perfect in any or every game . we have a back five who on their day can and have kept out "better players " from scoring .They will all make mistakes ,it's how they react to those mistakes which show progression or not . As we know it's a team game and individual errors can cost but each player has their own strength and weaknesses and hopefully their team mates can compensate to nullify those errors .Amat is well on his way to becoming a 1st class centre half but his misfortune at the moment is his lack of playing time .

Amat is just as much part of the squad as anyone, we would be a fool to sell him to anyone as he is needed here.....
