Lets say we have the chance to but Johnson. His wages are around £75k a week. Do we buy him and therefore match his current pay, or do we let him go? offer him a couple extra million signing on fee and keep him in our wage structure, will keep the current players happy as he won't of broken our wage limit and he will be happy because he will be getting the same money over a period of time just in a different method
I am sure MON was trying with AV to get most players on a certain wage with the promise of big bonuses if they achieved certain targets. This way they operate as a team with no one player getting his whack for not applying himself. As a team any player not pulling their weight would have their arses kicked by the other players. Offer him the best wages we can WITHIN our pay structure. If he is a mercenary and wants the money, f*ck him. If he wants the glory and first team football he needs to compromise.
