Apologies if something similar has been posted, but I haven't been on in a few days. But I seem to have come back to a lot of negativity. Am I the only one who thinks we actually played excellently against Reading? We battered them for 90 minutes and every single person I know who went to the match, either Reading or Saints fan, said we played fantastically. Lallana was incredible, him and Lambert were tearing up their defence at times. And Chaplow, apart from being a little bit excited with that one tackle, also looked brilliant. Cork and Hammond bossed Tabb and Mullins completely out of midfield, the midfield was ours. Most of the game was spent pressing them in their half and, if it wasn't for Federici, we would have comfortably won that game 4-0. I'm actually pretty damn proud of that performance. If we play like that in the premier league, we will do well. If Reading play like they did in the premier league, they will be destroyed. BELIEVE
Wad about to post exactly the same. Thought it was an excellent performance by us. Federici and Roberts were a two man team!
Chaplow could not beat the first man with the cross . Cork was lost at times . Do not get me started on the defense . Reading did what they had to do and they did it very very well . Roberts schooled Fonte simple as . What needs to happen is quicker football going forward , not Barca style passing , far post to Lambert and let him knock it back very simliar to Palace . This is not the time for pretty football , we need to play the next 270 as if we are 0-1 down .
I actually thought it was quite probably Cork and Hammond's best game together that I've seen. How you can say Cork was lost at times I have no idea.
The negativity hasn't primarily come from those who don't think we played an excellent game against Reading. In fact, it has mostly come from people who ridicule anyone who dares to criticise the performance. I said that I thought we played okay, but not great, that we passed it around well but struggled to create chances. (A fair and not particularly negative comment I feel), and I was lambasted by people who called me deluded and said I know nothing about football. That's where most of the negativity comes from - people who can't stand it when someone has a different opinion to their own. Just to be clear, I'm not offended or hurt by those comments. I'm a big boy and I'm capable of taking it and sometimes dishing it out myself. But I do think those people are morons.
Fair point, this wasn't necessarily a moan at the moaners. I was just praising what I thought was a decent performance. And no, I respect your opinion. At least you have more to say than just 'we played ****.'
True , Mr steinberg , and to be honest they are rude about it as well , just because you disagree there should be no need for ****e theyu are coming out with , its like a playground , most say we played well and I agree to a point , Reading played better and won and showed us how not to waste possesion and good position , they came with a game plan and it worked . Obvious and true so we could not of played that brilliant , but according to most I was watching Man United v Northampton from years ago.....................
We didn't play ****, just to clarify, and I don't think a single person thinks that we did. Fonte didn't have a particularly good game, but it was mainly that Reading defended well and attacked well. I just don't think it's fair to put it down to bad luck. They earned their win, and though we played fairly well, we could have been better.
There are two types of negativity...worrying that things may not go our way (fairly natural for any football fan) and thinking we are rubbish and everything needs changing. If we finish third, that will be awful in the scheme of things because we were ahead for so much of the season, but is a very good performance for our first year in the Championship. I'm not saying I will be happy or satisfied, but I will recognise that we've had a good season.
I'm not putting it down to bad luck. Yes, they earned their win, but, it wouldn't have been surprising at all if the score was reversed. They utilised their chances, we didn't do so well at that, and had a decent Federici to get past. Their defence outshone ours, realistically it did, yes. But I thought our attacking display was pretty damn good.
There is nothing wrong with being negative I suppose...but it doesn't exactly add much to the debate. Saying why you have your opinions, what you would do differently and so on might help add a bit of substance to your view. And just remember, ending your post with "if you don't agree with me you are a ______", doesn't make you right.
Wasn't referring to you Mr Saintly just some others who have resorted to personal insults in other topics.
I wont I see things differently , we are in a position to go up , we were in a better position to go up but we have lapsed , now I could go and say well we really should not be in this position and should really be happy but thats not me nor was it Wimbledons , Blackpools , Swanseas , Norwichs , Fleetwood Towns etc etc , you have to take things and keep hold of them and do not settle for 2nd best .
You joined just after the Reading game. Have you literally just joined a forum to bitch and moan and be negative...?
