I believe 2 seasons ago norwich got hammered 7 - 1 at home to Colchester and now they are premier league. Not saying this is going to happen to us...but a couple of decent CB's and I believe we could have a decent season. 42 games left, plenty of time. Lets get behind our team as obviously confidence is very low!!
Afraid Saturday highlighted that it's a lot more than two CBs we need. It's 2 CBs, a RB, a CM, a winger, a striker and a backup goalie. Then we need to get rid of the players not good enough. Making Leadbitter captain and playing him ahead of Bowyer can only be desperation from Jewell in trying to get bids for him in, although I'm not sure anyone would want him after Saturday!
Following the theory then.... when NCFC got hammered 7 v 1 they sacked the manger and appointed the opposing manager! Not sure Fergie Jnr is what we actually want though, so lets hope we're reading the tealeafs wrong !!!

Everyone says we needs 2 x CB, which we do, but its a team effort. Those of you who remember me from the real 606 know how much I hate Delaney but to be fair to the guy if your midfield lets players run past them without effort then your asking your defence to mark 6 or 7 players. We seem to have too many players who are not willing to put in the effort for the team. JET and Martin didnt follow their players on numerous occasions. Leadbitter must have thought we were at home with the amount of passes made to players in blue shirts. This season I believe we do have more quality then we have had over the last few seasons (other than at CB where we are poor) but its the mindset that is really letting us down. Nobody gives a damn.
well said mightymathie, problem is there are not enough fans with that point of view... two heavy losses and the whole club needs a turnaround. i am pretty sure in saying nobody was moaning when jewell came in, he has bought undoubted talent. but we are lacking a good centreback and right back and i firmly believe we will turn this slump around very soon if we sort these two positions out
tractorbhoy lots of things were going wrong with the defence - its true that they were left for dead by the midfield but just as Beattie pointed out after the Southampton game, the CBs are playing too far apart. It means that it's a piece of piddle for a forward to run through because there's so much space and if he gets the better of one man there's no way the other can cover and he's in, which we saw over and over again. Where last season GMac was getting stuck in, chasing back and clearing the ball in the box - no-one is doing that this season it's like a knife through butter.
Lancs, I agree 100% on all your points. We have big defensive issues that need addressing but we also need to defend as a team. I feel its unjust when some are saying 2 new CB's and we will be fine. Even with last seasons defensive partnership we would have lost by 3 or 4. With our defence there are obvious issues which Jewell is trying to rectify but arguably we are playing our 1st choice midfield and that really worries me unless you get their act together asap.

i genuinely do. If we look back to the start of the season most people would say we need about two more players (right back and centre back). no we havent got them yet but after a couple of really bad results I think people are jumping to conclusions that the club is in crisis. we are by no means there yet or even close but i dont think we are in a dire situation as everyone thinks, a couple of good defenders and a bit more time and I think we'll be there
