With the appointment of the new CEO and Ellis saying this guy will be responsible for our future finances, and getting the club run better commercially. We currently have a 25 million deficit (give or take a few quid) are we not allowed to just wipe off this deficit with the Sky TV money we are getting or are there restrictions on how clubs can spend this shed load of dosh we are getting having escaped relegation. I understand the CEO is there to get us on a firm footing finance wise but just confused as to how we can use the TV money. Also while I'm on a roll here there is talk that Man City would pay 145 million for Neymar, how does that work then, I thought there were Fair Play rules or summit like that Please can someone explain in plain English which is easy to understand, here's hoping.
Aren't the financial fair play rules being changed or done away with this year? As for improving the clubs finances, the tv rights monies will be the same for all clubs, so it's all relative really. All this money will mean is higher signing-on fees and inflated wages for the squad, and if you don't continue to manage the club's finances correctly it will not remain sustainable. Sky isn't the goose that laid the golden egg. It would be naive to assume everyone's financial troubles will be over. It just means the stakes got higher.
On this type of theme, can anyone explain the Alvarez situation. Is he our player. Can we sell him. Do we have to pay for him then let him go on a free. Where is he.
My understanding is that your outgoings have to be less than your income and that includes TV money, Gate receipts, Sponsorship, merchandise etc, etc.
