Ok so I had a heated football debate with my Gooner mate tonight, it started with him saying how we never gonna get another chance at winning a cup again?

I reminded him that I know fact he has been to know more than 5 Arsenal games, to which he said I was hardly any better, although I have been to roughly 45 games mostly away due to living in Berkshire as does he, We are both 31 and supported our teams our whole lives.

So I take no offence in your answers but was wondering what you would class as a plastic fan?

Somebody who follows a team because they are really successful? I don't think you can put us in that category.

It sounds like a "my dad is bigger than your dad" argument.

As long as you see yourself as a City fan and don't bail out when things go sour (which you obviously haven't)

I'm pretty sure that I've never even heard of Hull City before 2004 or so, but look how it ended up. Now I'm stuck for life :)
I can't really go to that many games (living in Sweden), but I do when I can. I've been to perhaps 20 games or so, but mostly because I lived in England for a while.
There will be fans of this club (any club really) that haven't seen their team play live, but will see themselves as die-hards

To me a plastic is a someone who supports a club purely on there successfully without having a connection to area the club is based.

I tend to think plastics having something lacking in there life.

I'm sure if circumstances allowed you you'd go to a lot more games.

I usually count plastics as those who follow big clubs (such as Man U, Liverpool or Chelsea) for no reason other than the fact that they win trophies and, mostly, because they're on TV all the time. They usually say things like "oh mate we (Liverpool) battered West Brom at the weekend", in a thick Cockney accent.

That would be my definition too, a plastic fan is more interested in the "big clubs" we are playing against than supporting Hull City AFC

This drives me mad. You've added two extra letters to the shortest and easiest word in our language.

Tell your ''friend'' he's a plastic ****, tell him there are plenty of Hull City supporters who've seen Arsenal play more than him ................ don't forget to tell him he's a ****.
