Jason euell, EUELL- always believe That euell scoreeee. Alway believe innnn- Jason euell, EUELL. Would love him back. Great player, great person. Not sure if people read the stories about how he lost a lot of money- think it was a dodgy property deal- so I would love him to take whatever financial packet gets him back up to scratch, but in a selfish light, would love it to be with us.
I would like to see him back, if only for six months to give him a chance to play well enough to attract a Championship club during the transfer window. Of course, if we are twenty points clear at the top by the New Year he might decide that we will be his Championship club! However, all this "return of a legend" stuff baffles me. I admit my memory is getting very unreliable as I enter senility, but despite his being our top scorer for three seasons I seem to remember his overall performances as being somewhat disappointing (especially for the £4.75 million we paid) and his getting quite a lot of stick from fans for his poor touch and inability to pass at the right "weight". Never really a scapegoat, but never a fans favourite either. Still, that was in the top division and he would certainly give us something different from BWP, Hayes or Benson, so I would welcome him back.
Always like euell myself- scored important goals, never stopped running, and nor did he complain when curbs asked him to play in midfield. Had a difficult start, but his stats became very, very decent for us in the premiership. Remember a couple winners against Liverpool being a highlight from his time here.
Eddie, yup that's pretty much my memory as well, especially in his last season. But as you say, this is L1, that was the Premier League... Not convinced it's the right move, but it's Jason Euell... and frankly it'll be nice to recognise someone on the first day of the season...
I'm not sure that taking back old players, espescially the ones that are at the end of thier career, is gonna be a good thing. There's no doubt that a few years back Jason did well for us but now you have to ask the following questions..... Will he still have the hunger? Does he want one more payday? What can he offer to the team? Unless he takes his coaching badges and Chrissie feels that he has coaching potential, we should look else where.
seeing as he has been declared bankrupt in recent times i'm 100% sure he will have the hunger and will be desperate for any sort of wage coming in Euell at L1 would offer a lot more than Benson and Hayes - that's not to say Benson and Hayes would be no good but I remember Euell was banging in goals for Blackpool in the Championship as well when they got promoted 2 seasons ago. This is a guy who scored reguarly for us in the Premier League compared to Benson and Hayes who are probably playing in a league about as good as it gets for them. If the PL goals dried up its cos he was played in midfield, yes maybe time was catching up on him but you have to remember its a whole different kettle of fish playing against John Terry, Vidic etc then coming up against League One defenders I have no doubt whatsoever Euell could hold down a starting place alongside BWP or even come of the bench and hit double figures for the season
He says he's had offers from Doncaster, Charlton and AFC Wimbledon I believe. I certainly know which one I'd choose if I were him.
i love that chant chrissy. always believe in lol been listening to him on cafc player. comes across as very mild mannered and mature...obviously a quiet family man. thats nice and surprised me a little. i cant see how anyone can criticise his first time here (Charlton Life). he was exceptional. ok, he was never the MOST composed finisher in 1 on 1s. but he werent too bad. but instead look to his strengths, which were a hustling, bustling all action type of game. when he played up top he defended from the front. great player for us.
What position does he play these days? He played initially for us a striker, but then Curbs moved him deeper and deeper to the extent that sometimes he seemed to be mainly playing as a defensive midfielder, with the likes of Kishishev further up the pitch!
Think Euell would fit the second striker role perfectly. His game has matured in years, seemed more of a clever player at B'pool and Donny than ''dahn ah grahnd''. He would compete with Hayes for that role.
Would love him to sign. Still a good enough Championship player in my opinion. Think he'd be good for someone like BWP to learn from. Hayes, BWP, Benson and Euell...maybe with a young striker on loan too would be ample good enough for this league.
Charlton have withdrawn the acceptance of County's bid. Powell says he's happy he's staying and if he does well this year then he'll give him another year. Could prove to be a good bit of man management by Powell. He now has a player on his hands who will be wanting to show what he can offer.
Id love to see him back, would probably do well surrounded by the fans excitement but hopefully not drowned in expectation!
