Think King will win it, i don't want him to, but i reckon he will, afterall he's the only one doing anything for Brum at the minute.

He's top goal scorer isn't he?

Looking at the Football League website's opinions...

    Sone Aluko (Hull City)
Playing off the main striker Jay Simpson, the 23-year-old Nigerian seems to have found his position impressing with dazzling link-up play and an array of spectacular goals. A pinpoint free-kick against Wolverhampton Wanderers was followed by two solo efforts in the 3-2 win at Birmingham City.

    Marlon King (Birmingham City)
Six goals in seven November games included two in the 3-2 win over promotion-chasing Middlesborough. Using his well-documented strength, galvanising presence and hold-up play has proven very effective in drawing defenders out of position, creating space and goals aplenty for his team-mates.

    Danny ****tu (Millwall)
The imposing defender has been a highly influentual figure for the Lions since he regained full match sharpness and returned to the side. A commanding presence in the air, fiercely competitive on the ground, he led by example as Millwall conceded just two goals in six matches.

Aluko also scored the winner in the derby match against Barnsley at the beginning of the month, if I recall.

I can't say I know a lot about how ****tu is doing, but King is scoring for fun recently.

Aluko I haven't been that excited about lately tbh. He had a decent run a while ago around the Bristol/Barnsley/Wolves games where he scored three in three but only the free kick particularly stood out as really skillful. I'm not even sure he was our best player in November, never mind the league's best. He's actually disappointed me overall, looking at some of the stuff he did at Rangers I thought he was going to really rip the place apart. He's been good don't get me wrong, but not as good as I'd hoped.

    You talking individual skill?

That Bristol goal was a great move between him and Simpson.

And i'd like to see someone like Mclean and Proschwitz attempt to do what he did against Brum and Barnsley.

You've got to remeber that the teams in the SPL (except Celtic) are of a lower quality than the Championship.

Yeah it was a good goal at Bristol but more of a team thing than an individual "Oh my god, look at what Aluko just did." The goals against Birmingham were good but only what a striker should be doing 10-15 times a season anyway. I'd expect 4 or 5 of them in a month for someone to be named player of the month. I thought the one against Barnsley was just crap defending/goalkeeping though, he shouldn't even have been shooting from there.

Maybe I'm being a bit harsh on him but I just think overall he doesn't do as much as he could. We give him the ball as much as we can but he doesn't beat his man or actually do anything with it often enough for me, and if he gets into a good position there's a decent chance his shot will be ****e. He reminds me of Bernard Mendy sometimes in that he has all this skill but lacks the urgency to go and use it to beat someone. He's obviously one of our better players but I think he could do more.

I can sort of see what you mean, he probably could do more, but likely has more to offer and will reach his peak at some point by the end of the season.

All I can remember about Mendy was the 4-3 at Old Trafford.

I just like to see someone scoring for City- a striker actually doing his job.

Think we need a fox in the box type player/ goal scrounger (an Inzaghe type player) than someone who'll pick it up from deep and try it on his own all the time.

Inzaghi is the perfect example of what we need.

Too bad the man himself isn't available.

True, it's a very hard job that Aluko has trying to pick it up from deep and make something happen all the time. I think Simpson can be that fox in the box type though. If he'd been playing against Forest and Palace he'd have got on the end of some of them crosses and we'd all be raving about him now. I don't like the idea of dropping him at all, especially when we don't replace him with another striker, or just replace him with McLean.

It's funny how when Simpson doesn't play you think he'll get on the end of everything but when he does play he barely ever does. Simpson is anything but a fox in the box, this half a season has proved that.
