As I have been away & only seen Leicester, Leeds & Sheffield Wed this season & now I'm away again. The bits of Aluko that I've seen is not a striker, he spends too much time in midfield picking up the ball & with no one ahead of him, his tricky runs have ultimately been stopped by 2 or 3 players. He has scored 8 goals earlier in the season but is it his injury that's meant he's come back a little bit more in midfield, is it the other team know how to stop him or have our tactics changed? Apart from a couple of runs on Saturday & the odd ones against Leeds & Leicester, I don't get what it is that he adds as an attacker. I have been told he's a good winger, but now Brady is there he's not going to get that position, I was thinking on Saturday that he should have come off, although I thought Koren should have too, but he did got a goal, did nothing else though IMO.
In asnwer to your point, I dont think anyone considers him a striker. He's worked well behind Jay as a floater but with the current trend in playing Koren we're actually lining up 3-7-0.
To be honest I don't think koren has done a lot lately, I'd like to see Big Nick up front with Aluko off him.
Except score against- Forest, Derby, Wednesday, Huddersfield & set up Evans v Leeds. Yeah nowt at all that.
We didn't beat Wednesday, I accept your point but I still don't think he's played that well. if all he has to do is score a goal for you to think he's played well then your right and I'm wrong, I just think he can do more and I think Aluko does in that role off a striker
Koren & Aluko have to play but when we sign a striker I think Evans will make way and Koren will be in midfield with Quinn & Meyler
We never thought he was a striker, he is naturally a midfielder or right midfield. He's got something different about him though and towards the end of his Rangers career, he was played in the striker role and didn't do bad, so basically, he plays rather than Simpson, Proschwitz and obviously Cullen. He certainly can play as a striker but he needs a target man alongside him, and I thought him and Simpson worked very well up top, but we then lack height and the ability to head the ball. I think Prossie/Aluko would be a good strikeforce. The Big lad can hold it up and allow Aluko to get into his dangerous positions as per usual but Bruce doesn't seem to want to try it yet. I'd play Aluko and Prossie up front against L'Orient to try it out.
Well that ****s that up then. I can't see Bruce experimenting with it in the League either... Hopefully we beat L'Orient and play that against Barnsleh then.
Cant see Aluko playing against Barnsleh! If Nick plays well tomorrow then he will surely seriously be pushing for a start on saturday
