Am I alone in thinking that he is a pathetic excuse for a PL footballer. Just watching him yesterday and I couldn't see one part of his game that he is good at,except for running , he can't hold the ball, he can't pass, he can't jump so he can't head the ball and worst of all he can't shoot. Are we playing him because of his physical appearance, he looks threatening but he has nothing about him so the opposition aren't worried in the slightest about him. Maybe we are playing him because we just don't have anyone else, which I suspect is the case, and he will be replaced in the January window. Having said that, I would love him to prove me wrong and if he scores the winner against the mags I'll show my arse in Fenwicks window .
His distribution was good, he and Larrson added some much needed creativity. He had 2 people on his case for every high ball -did better against Chelski and even yesterday he offered more than Fletcher
He did alright, we've just given a big contract to a player who could on muster a 60% pass success rate and didn't create anything against Liverpool. I'd be more worried about us just being had, yet again. Seriously the lad is shocking but is toast of the town for some folk.
Not this one, though I believe he's nowhere as bad as some are making out. He did OK and that's about the best you could say, though for a big lad he was shaken off the ball a bit too easily yesterday and . "...didn't create anything " - oh yes he did. He and Connor also kept 4 defenders between them and goal diluting the potency of the Liverpool attack.
I said Jozy did allright, the 60% pass rate, creating and being toast of the town bit was in reference to Conner. It's fact too. Not only did he not create any chances, not a single key pass either.
Once again, we lacked creativity in the final third, we desperately need to correct this in January. Sort this out and goals will come but right now we just don't pose any attacking threat to the opposition. Defendively we're bang on and Liverpool didn't look like scoring at all, but up front we're lacking. Altidore isn't EPL quality, look at his record.
No, not at all. He is right up there as to being one of the worst players ever, and we've ad plenty of **** one's. Think it's over a year now, since his last (and only, i think) prem goal.
I'm struggling to see anything in the guy to suggest he may come good soon. We have our fair share of knackers at our club, this guy has to be in the top 5 of those knackers that I have seen. A complete oxygen thief in my eyes, get rid asap.
He made a pass yesterday, midway in the liverpool half, under no pressure from anyone, stroked the ball 5 yards to Larsson then fell over his own feet. Shambolic.
I do not understand why he has so many detractors, his positional play and off the ball running by going wide, created space through the middle for Gomez to shoot on two occasions, slipped his markers on another occasion and put in a dangerous cross into the right area. Far to easily we look at the negative side of players performances because we do not choose to look for the positive contributions, personally I thought he contributed more than Wickham who had better service, once from Altidore, but fannied about trying to do things he is not capable of and then fell down looking for penalties rather than driving into the danger area. On a like for like comparison Altidore gave the the better attacking options than Wickham did.
I'll laugh my cock off if he scores against you lot, mind. Mind, i wouldn't put a bet on it ever happening.
Contributing more than Wickham yesterday doesn't make him a decent player, neither does pulling defenders out wide, or falling over making a pass, or losing the ball regularly. He played as the striker yesterday, Wickham played wide once again, how many saves did Altidore force?
If Jozy scores a goal for us, i'd be amazed. He needs to move on with Graham and a decent striker brought in to compete with / complement Connor and Fletch.
Not worth 60k a week and I don't believe he will be getting that without every bonus going. If Gus can tell him to cut the fancy passes out and play to his strengths I still think he will be an asset to the team. Not whilst played on the wing tho. May be a reward for saving our EPL status last season cos he certainly was the catylst to us staying up.
