Give him 90 minutes on Saturday and hope he bags a couple to set him off for the rest of the season.

Think he looked alright when he came on last night. Looked handy as a wide forward. His acceleration worries me more so than his finishing. I don't think we know how good a finisher he is. I mean Steven Fletcher is a top class finisher and he's looked as bad as Jozy with the limited opportunities they've both had. Poor confidence just cripples that attribute.

Confidence is the key for this lad...I still feel we have the makings of a good forward here, but he needs to get his confidence back to show it..

Sadly I can't see him making the grade. Would love him to but his game isn't suited to the Prem'

Couple that with the urgent need of goals for safety and I think we need to get someone in.

With the chance to play at Wembley on offer maybe we have a bit more pull

I'm not convinced by him, I was excited when we first signed him but my enthusiasm is wavering.
Hope I turn out to be wrong though!

Still buzzing after last night. I cannot fault Jozys work rate or attitude but he is not a prem player. He tried hard last night but his touch and awareness are poor. It was bad when he kicked the ball with his wrong foot and almost fell over. But give him a chance on Saturday. Maybe a few goals will get him going. I still do not think he is the answer if the question is where are the goals going to come from

I really want it to work for this lad. His desire and work rate are there and as has been said in posts above, Fletcher has been bad as well this season but Jozy gets blamed loads more. I personally believe that the reason why they arent getting many goals has to do with the supply to them and how far away our 3 central midfielders are from getting up to help them out by setting out in the 4-5-1 formation we are. Against big teams at home and games away from home that works great, but at home we should be playing a much more attacking and aggressive formation to put weaker teams to the sword. Playing someone off the striker in that old Sess role would see us doing that. I dislike the 'this is our 11 and we will play this formation/players every week regardless' attitude. We need to change players and formations to combat the opposition teams strengths and exploiting their weaknesses.

The Newcastle match was Jozy's best game by far, playing just behind Fletcher. He was excellent there and pretty much took Tiote out of the game but we have never played that way since. We should be trying that more often. I'd definitely play him up front against Kidderminster in the hope of building up some confidence with a bagful of goals.

Glad to see some (relatively!) positive comments on Jozy. Has taken a really unfair amount of stick, Fletcher (who I like as well) has been just as ineffective as Altidore, but seems to escape most peoples criticism

Some goals on Saturday would be great for him

He did more in.his little cameo than Fletcher did in the entire game.

I actually thought it could be good for him to drift out wide left to get involved in games and Borini could run in centrally behind defenders. Borini Altidore and Johnson is our best forward three imo at the minute.

Do you not think his strength is his weakness? He's too big across the shoulders limiting his acceleration. It's OK being a battering ram but the defenders he's up against now are too quick and are gone with the ball before he gets going. Also, his centre of gravity is too high meaning he is easily knocked off the ball or knocked over when up against a slimmer, faster defender with lower centre of gravity.

I'd change his training regime to tailor his size to who he is playing against now. His recent record in Holland and for the USA means he has potential, just needs to be honed correctly for the Premiership.

    Just a thought.

Re pace I bet there's only Borini in our squad would beat him in the 100m or the 40 yard dash.

Yeah mate defo. Too much muscle. Once he's built his momentum up he's pacey, like an express train. I just think he's too heavy. Needs to reduce his time in the weight room imo. The likes of Benteke, Drogs and Lukaku have the perfect physique for the league. Jozy has gone way too far with the beef.

Jozy might even beat him. But Jozy over 5 to 10 yards would probably be beaten by Wes. Bags of pace, slow to get moving.
