I have tried to defend the lad against, my better judgement at times but he was simply utter ****e today and completely ineffective as an attacking threat. Not until he was thankfully removed at halftime and we cleverly went with Borini up front and introduced Giacherinni, did we look like an real threat and create real opportunities. Johnson was poor and Vergini had a total mare but I'd stick with AJ as at least he has shown some form recently.

Wes Brown immediately replaces Vergini next Sunday alongside JOS and I'd play Giacherinni on a big Wembley pitch with Borini up front. My starting 11 and subs bench. My bench has 3 striking options as you have to have forwards in a cup final as holding on for a draw is not an option.

    Manonne

    Bardsley, JOS, Brown, Alonso

    Catts, Colback

    Giacherinni, Ki, Johnson

    Borini

Ustari, Vergini, Larsson, Gardner, Fletcher, Altidore, Scocco

If Altidore starts we are already beaten before kick off. If Borini starts as the main striking focal point we have a fighters chance. I go with that in the league for the rest of the campaign too btw.

Agreed, Giacherinni is one of our best players, you don't leave him out to accomodate Altidore. Best 11 on the pitch.

Is that a self confession there, or an agreement about Altidores complete ineffectiveness as a footballer?

He always bang on about how great O'Neill was, he doesn't rate Martinez, he said Danny Graham would be a good signing. you want me to go on & on?

I think Cest is partly right BUT

I'd keep Borini wide he does good defensive work
    Altidore out, Fletch in
I think we need to keep shape for away games but try 2 strikers at home against lesser sides who might well sit deep knowing we struggle at home

Thought that Gus might have paired Giacch and Borini today to give us a bit of speed for counter attacks.

No ****. It was a car crash and a half after all. If we stand off like that next Sunday well be hit for seven or eight.

Totally agree, what use is a striker that can't hit a barn door to a team fighting relegation and playing against City next week who are more or less guaranteed at least 1 goal in the final.

Thanks but no thanks Jozy, get behind Wickham in the queue!

We stood off in the first half against Southampton in the league aswell and got battered. Luckily we turned it round 2nd half.
We can't afford being a Jeckyll and hide team for much longer otherwise it's curtains!

i was at the game today ,the gulf between him and the rest of the team was huge ,no forward in the world was going to achieve anything with such a lacklustre backing as this , not saying he is the answer but he seems to be the scapegoat again for a total no show from this team around him, a lesson in signing players in the last window shows that hull in signing the twin strikers will survive imo because of this,
jozy, fletch, connor ,socco, borini who to play up there , i havent got a clue, nobody seems to be in form
