From SSN:AZ Alkmaar are keen on USA international Jozy Altidore but admit they need to offload a striker before adding another goal threat.

Goal threat? Is this the same deadly striker we had on loan?:emoticon-0116-evilg

Good player; always causing problems to defences...wish we still had him.

are you all mad, blinkered or pissed?

No, Altidore isn't a goal threat.

I think Jozy would do really well at championship level but I doubt he would play for a realistic wage

Despite going on loan to Bursaspor (where his fans stated that the goals would start to fly in - he scored once in ten appearances) he was not coached on his left-side game nor was he coached on his heading. Jozy also cannot shoot with any regularity whatsoever. The lad has tremendous potential but we have been hearing this for over 3 years now and it is blatantly obvious to all but the blind that he needs some very heavy tuition. On his own admission he says that he does not like training so what is a coach going to do. Phil Brown declared "He thinks he's a 'big-time Charlie"! His fans keep bleating about THAT goal against Spain and THAT occasion when he 'turned' the English and Chelsea Captain John Terry (I never saw that though I did watch the game).
There is a lot of work to be done by Jozy and we haven't got the time. He was on 20,000 quid per week last time he was here - what would we offer a striker with a record of 3 goals in 48 games over 3 years? He should be paying us!

I always thought he should be played on the wing. Undoubtedly his best talent is running with the ball at his feet at pace, holding off defenders making them blind panic and he has a hell of a cross on him. His weakness is his finishing and composure in front of goal.

Now tell me why all this combined doesnt immediately suggest he should be a winger? Is it only because he's a big lad and most wingers are built like Pat Nevin?

A total failure at every club he has turned out for.

I saw him play most games for us and i was unimpressed with him. By his own admission he doesnt like training and he does have enough ability to get away with being lazy. 3 goals in 49 games in club football since his move to europe says it all.

I wouldn't mind him back at City, so long as it was Bradford City. :emoticon-0105-wink:
