Yes I know, I fell apart laughing at that one but the point is they were serious. I watched the Sunderland game prior to ours and if all Sunderland have got to bring off the bench is Danny Graham then there is a glimmer of hope for us as they would HAVE to finish below us.
Altidore is a huge star in America, despite his poor record here in England, don't be to surprised if this came off.
I didn't realise you worked for Toronto and had inside knowledge on their transfer dealings, good to know.
I've been trying to keep it a secret but "News Now" update every 5 minutes and it's on there. We are also 11 hours in front of you so get all the results before they are played - that's why I did so well in the Prediction League last week!
ESPN and NBC are both claiming that Toronto are front runners to sign Altidore, though they're suggesting a fee of £3.5-4m, rather that it being dependant on a deal with Defoe.
Would be a good deal for Toronto. Given decent service which Bradley would provide I would expect Altidore to score over 20 goals a season.
1. The approach isn't from us it's from Toronto. Defoe won't come to us and we won't want him. He's on 90 grand ffs, of course we don't want him. 2.Jozy doesn't want to return to MLS he wants to stay in Europe and has been publicly refuting all advances using social networking. 3. Toronto will need to break MLS rules to bring in Jozy, something I'm sure Portland would have something to say about it. The mere suggestion of this transfer has caused mayhem over the Atlantic with MLS Bureaucracy facing the brunt. It's mare to explain and best looked up yourself but involves returning US nationals and rules on a level playing field where the teams who finished lowest getting first refusal. For money bags Toronto it would involve them getting the nod over these teams and breaking the rules. The only desperation is Toronto clutching at straws on a deal that isn't going to happen in a million years unless they re write MLS rules in which case it will get very messy, you bet your arse Defoe is 100% no go in any type of deal and just Jozy to Toronto will open an almighty can of worms.
Altidore scored a lot for his Dutch club so he would probably score even more for a MLS side, swapping him for Defoe would make a lot of sense for Sunderland and the MLS team. I'm still hoping we get Sanago anyway although not seen in any news lately so thats probably already dead and buried
Any more from you and I will set Walter my dog on you - you may have read about him . . . please log in to view this image . . .you have been warned!
User Actions Follow CP24Verified account@CP24 BREAKING: Toronto FC has sold England star striker Jermain Defoe to Sunderland. More information to come. Well slap my thighs! How wrong was I? I had no faith we'd commit to those sort of wages. Nowt official yet though
Looks like you may have shifted Altidore as well. He'll be chuffed at Toronto. Close enough to watch the Metrostars when he isn't playing.
