I personally feel we should give up on Birchall as that lovely Dover chairman dosen't want to play ball with us... So I was trawling through some of the other forums and have come up with a list of free transfers for consideration 1. Kevin Lisbie - 32. Getting on a bit. Release by Ipswich, was on loan at Millwall in Championship last season (4 goals in 19 apps). A bit injury prone in the last year or so. 2. Dave Mooney - 26. Tall (6-2). Released by Reading, was on loan at Colchester last season (14 goals in 39 apps). 3. Chris Porter - 27 Tall again (6-1). Released by Derby (9 goals in 2 seasons!). Previously with Motherwell, Oldham and Bury where he averaged about 1 goal in 3 games. 4 Darryl Duffy - 27. Released by Bristol Rovers, however looks the least prolific, but has always played at a higher level than league 2. Any thoughts. UTG
Our history of signing older big name strikers in the past has in general given us high salary mistakes. That said I think Lisbie could be a real hitman at this level, Porter wouldn't fancy dropping down this far instead I believe he'll sign for a L1 or newly promoted championship side. Mooney is a good player and I can only see him signing for a L1 side. No I think Hess is either going to have to rely on a loan from a higher club or pick up a prolific lower/non league signing, I would prefer that to another Mark McCammon or Iwan Roberts.
mooney is an interseting prospect. if he'd drop down this far could do very well. however are these all to similar to kedwell? how about grimes or bucking the trend of what i just said donladson (spl?) as he seems still to be unattached and may come here if we offer a release clause if we dont get promoted and i think he'd bring the pace we need beside kedwell whilst still having the height
We need pace, birchall is to similar to Kedwell anyway, not pacey or tall. Brandy would be a good option.
