Following on from shameless's poetry post, we all know the variety of feeling towards our 'cousins' the mags. But I'm curious what do we find ourselves (in spite of ourselves) liking in them? Some people will find nothing at all, while others (even though they are loath to admit have a small liking for certain things they do). I must admit I quite like the team spirit, the attitude that they will play as a team for each other (something that at times we've lacked this season.
I hate their club, but do not hate the mags. I have geordie mates throughout the world and always get on well. The thing that stikes me most about them, is their passion for their club, they are mostly fanatics about it, and insist on wearing their bloody zebra tops every where they go. Once you venture away from home, there is no hatred towards each other,
Well, many of you will know that I used to work for them, just before the fat man took over, so I have many mates there. Many can show a rather obscene arrogance but most are just football fans who TBH have been ****ed about for years by owners. So I admire their resiliance and ongoing support of their club.
Agree with Commachio here like. Their loyalty is unquestionable, to the point of insanity at times. Some of the lads on here will talk of the Mags dilusion but I think you will find that that comes mainly from the younger ones who grew up under the John Hall/Keegan era and were spoilt for some time by exciting attacking football, thats lets face it, was good to watch, ok, except for us. You will find that most of the older ones like my mate Rossi, who's had a ST since the 70's are much more balanced in their views because they know the real crack. Both clubs grew up from solid working class backgrounds that were built on heavy industry and hard graft. Despite our many differences, I suspect the only real one is the colour of our stripes.
Yeah, a few of our more passionate friends will have views that will provoke our resident mag wums. Still with not much to do today it'll make for an interesting 'discussion'
Never met the folks but, Big geordie dave, Chappaz, and Aldridge , to name but three are level headed sports fans, Yeah I could sit at the bar with the likes of these folks. no problem at all.
Spot on VS. Their team spirit is something that I mentioned in another thread a few weeks ago. We don't have players with the same mentality and it shows sometimes. Having someone like Barton in the dressing room, has got to influence how other players in the team perform, or face his wroth!
Mag intruder here The good thing about the rivalry our two clubs have is that underneath everything is I believe a respect for the opposition away from the derby(and immediately after it) I have a lot of time for Sunderland and their fans. Due to being in South Tyneside I've grew up with alot of Sunderland fans and with fans from both clubs being so close to eachother makes the banter and the rivalry the best in England and competition for any derby in the world long may it continue.
Like most on here, I hate their club, but I don't hate mags as you can't hate people indiscriminately and anyway half my family support NUFC! Last season their team did have a spirit that we sometimes lacked and they did miles better than I thought they would. Something there Bruce should be seeking to emulate. I think the new new mag shirt is, however, utterly ****e. I saw one in Caterham yesterday, which was a bit of a laugh. The bloke never knew why I was sniggering as I went by, but then again I don't rate our new one much! Other than that, I am just hoping for a good dose of 2nd season syndrome for them and some revenge for the Halloween disaster...
Must be Dorset - but they really are a bunch of F*cking bellends. From top to bottom - just a bunch of deluded c*nts Lol Bart
