Best available ,good record especially with youngsters. Hope he'll take no **** from the dressing room egos, and play his best players in their best positions. Eliminate the focus on possession, get everyone to understand which goal they they need to run towards, and then to put the ball in the net. With the useless "Football Directors "still in place, he will earn every penny he's paid to get a tune out of their idea of talent.
Getting rid of the dross like Garnacho, Delap, Neto, Tosin, Badashile,Fofana, Mudryk, Guiu, Gittens would be a good start. The big decision sell Fernandez or Palmer, they don't play well together. Both need to be in the same position, just behind the striker, where Fernandez nearly always plays and usually underperforms. Palmer has gone backwards trying to find somewhere he can play to his strengths.
All that to do before we address strikers and defenders.
I note Alonso will be called MANAGER. That's a good start , but will it happen or just be another season of washing toddlers nappies ??

Agree with everything you have said CP.
This really could go either way.
I think had we stuck with Maresca we might have made CL, thats not to say I was a big Maresca fan, his football was torrid and some of his decisions were baffling, but the bottom line is, as frustrating and turgid as some of our performances were under Maresca, we never lost 6 on the bounce under him!! Rosenior was just an experiment that didnt work, the less we dwell on that the better

Problem is they are all on stupid money, with stupidly long contracts....so it aint gonna be easy shifting them all without pay outs!
If you are on a 7 year, 100-150k a week contract, with 5 years left, you aint gonna just volunteer to bin it at no cost, to replace it with a 3 year 80k a week contract at a smaller club, and here in lies the problem.

Yep and a problem of our own making. Our owners are slow learners and on the road to nowhere with their " Project"

Sunderland fan here, I think you will do very well next season under Alonso, his playing style, ability to change tactics and the team togetherness he creates. There are some mega talented individual players at Chelsea but it is a team game.
Agreed - I’ve seen similar practices played out at OT courtesy of the Glaziers; as I’ve said before we’re stuck with a bunch of enthusiastic amateurs with little or no idea of what makes a team tick or the importance of leadership and a spine (quality central defender, central midfielder and forward….just a thought). Say what you like about Roman but he understood that the trophy cabinet doesn’t like; at least we won’t have the embarrassment of competing for the Conference cup…the equivalent of the Full Members cup where you might as well pop into a sports shop and buy your own trophy.
