Sunderland possibility of signing Marcos Alonso could happen this week, With Fiorentina looking to win the race for Mexican left-back Miguel Layun from Liga MX club America. Alonso was apart of the first training session with Florentine yesterday at their Pre-season training Camp in Italy. Fiorentina have been tracking the 26-Year-Old, Who played all 4 games with Mexico at the World Cup, With Barcelona, Inter Milan, Cagliari, Real Madrid and Eintracht Frankfurt also looking to sign the full-back. Alonsoâs father and agent Alonso Snr told www.firenzeviola.it last week: "Marcos, after playing for six months without missing a game, is excited and very ready to get back at the coach's (Vincenzo Montella) disposal."Now it's up to Fiorentina to make a decision." Reports have suggested Sunderland could use former Lazio defender Modibo Diakite as a makeweight in any deal, but Alonso Snr added: "Right now, we only know that he (Alonso Junior) was summoned by the club to begin preparing, and he still has two years of contract with the club. "He starts with determination, but I repeat: Fiorentina will decide. We are available." Sunderland have no natural left-back in their team and hope to sign Alonso before 1st pre-season against Darlington on 19th July PREMIER LEAGUESUNDERLANDFC BARCELONA COMMENTS:
I think he'll come and I'd be pleased if he did. He's weighing up his options and probably waiting to see who we sign which is just what I'd do. With Colback gone I'd imagine he'll be wondering whether he'll be pushed further forward if we're short in some games.
****ing hell - I never had to ask my Dad's permission when I changed jobs.... (I'll get me coat!) I agree with Smug - I think he'll come but I think he's waiting to see what his options are. He fits well into Gus' style of play and knows the system very well now.
I think he'll come, just like I think Borini will come, it's just a matter of waiting for their parent clubs to get their **** together before allowing them to move on.
