Former Liverpool stars Xabi Alonso and Alvaro Arbeloa hail impact of Kenny Dalglish at Anfield
Former players recognise the impact the Scot has had on the club and back the Reds legend to bring success back to Anfield with his style of play and recruitment policy

Great to see those two still have a soft spot for the club now that they've left.
    Both were excellent servants.

i think we could amke room for him...lol

i just think some guys buy into the whole club ethos and some sit apart as mercenary selfish people. the trick is to pci kwho is the former and who is the latter... eg suarez seems to fit the former right now and so does meireles. when we signed the diouf, bellamy, pennent, etc type we all knew we were in for it.

"But [let's not] think about a new Alonso. Try to think of a new pattern, a new pattern of play, a new idea of how to play"

It's a shame he didn't say that when everybody was questioning Rafa wanting Barry without having to sell Alonso.

well.... i think there's a few things there.

    1. ok we should all realise and acknowledge that rafa was in a difficult position under G&H.

    2. that said selling alonso was madness in the extreme. someone told alonso if an offer came in he's be sold... was that on the basis of his injuries in the previous 2 years?

why was it madness? 30million is simply huge money. well in the light of knowing he was on a contract, and the fact GH would take the money AND i nthe light of barry being in the objective view of everyone not worth it... well i would keep alonso.

    3. when rafa drew up his list that summer and put barry and keane on it and wanted barry first... handed that to mr parry he signed his own p45. rafa admitted both me were on the list.

    4. replacing alonso when he was finally sold after a stellar year for 30million with mr aquilani was utter madness.

    5. keeping mascherano for one more year by pure pursuasion was good business, then. he was our best playe ri nthe 7th palced finish as he bothered.

    6. stepping forward i think rather than finding the new alonso figuring out how to play is indeed vital and i think at some level kenny has this in mind. HOwever i think we have so many bad players relative to top 4 standard that i can't see the wood from the trees yet.... this summer will be interesting indeed
