With the customary 6 points due from the Suffolk farming-sorts we only need another 24 points from 26 games and we're safe. Easy-peasy. Yes my yellow friends, Championship football is secure in south west Herts. Sean Dyche is a football genius.
Whether you are being sarcastic or not i dont know. But i for one agree that we are nearly safe!! There are teams below us who are worse than us!! Dont forget that we still have Bristol and Ipswich to play, and 6 points from them will give us a pretty big gap!! We can do this!!! We have been in worse situations before and come up smelling of roses!! We just have to believe!!
The clock has been turned back 20 years to the eras of Perryman and Roeder. Mostly grim, but occasionally heroic, battles against relegation. We managed to defy gravity for a number of years. Even finished 7th in '95, although we know what happened the year after that. History has a knack of repeating itself.
well fought draw today boys..hopefully you will be safe but theres a long way to go yet, and you will lose kightley and nosworthy an probably sell sordell and loach so you will need to pick up a few more points before january to be sure(which imo you will achieve).theres a lot of crap teams down the bottom so that will help you..good luck!
I don't make us favourites to beat Bristol City, they're on automatic promotion form at the moment. Three of their recent wins were against struggling teams, but they've also taken four points off the top two teams in the division. We're playing well ourselves and therefore have a chance, but I reckon I'd take another 0-0 if it was offered to us.
Well you are still lumped (lump being the best word) with Ellington and will be stuck with Tamas (offside) Priskin when he returns. Nice doing business with you btw!! Banter aside, I dont think we will sell Loach or Sordell till summer as we dont need the money particularly, and Dyche knows they are crucial to our plans. I think when we get our Steven McGinn back from injury he will take up the attacking midfield role and we will be ok i think. The only one i think we will miss is Nosworthy, he is a rock in defense and he and Marriappa have a great understanding.
well i hope you hang on to sordell and loach as you will need your better players. You should be ok but i think you are in denial if you believe you dont need the money..good luck for the season !
I actually said we dont need the money particularly! We have debt yes, but its manageable and the owner supposedly has the means to keep us afloat and sound. We arent pompey or plymouth, but we arent Cardiff or Leicester either.
I am sorry to say babyhornetdan but that is a long way from our current situation. We HAVE to pay back the bondholders over each of the next 4 years, and we still are making a loss each year, as shown by the last set of accounts. The difference has to be bridged via player trading. The only way Watford will ever, and in fact has ever, survive is by player trading. Player trading by its very nature is only profitable by selling your best assets. This is not new to Watford, we have been doing it for the 40+ years I have been a supporter and it is the only way we will ever survive as a club. We develop young players or buy lower league players and sell them at a profit. Danny Graham, Will Buckley last year, Tamas Priskin, Tommy Smith and Mike Williamson the year before etc, and our main assets in term of value at present are Scott Loach and Marvin Sordell. Decent offers for either, or any other player, will be accepted because we have to.
Good morning Goldentrue. Its nice to see another person about. I understand we do have to make those payments and we are making a loss, but the loss is stable and was reduced last year. Bassini has a plan for getting rid of that completely. There are clubs in a worse situation than we are and heading in the wrong direction. Whilst we will sell some players, it is not essential that we offload all key players in January, we can afford to hang on till summer when their stock will have increased surely.
I think you are being a bit optimistic there BHD - we lost £4m last year I believe - a long way from trading neutrally. As for Baz having a plan - how do you know? If he has he is failing to explain it to anybody
Yes but Manchester City lost nearly £200m - other clubs have other finance issues - clubs have gone into administration with debts far less than our reported £13m If we continue to lose £4m per year trading that money has to come from a benefactor's pocket or the sale of players - is there any other viable option? We need to cut our cloth to get close to trading breakeven.
I simply meant that he has the repayment schedule which will drastically reduce the debt we have. Also havent we just had £10,000,000+ debt written off??
Obviously we'd like to stay in this division and climb the table due to our performances on the pitch. But with Portsmouth likely to be deducted points and other clubs likley to follow them into administration resulting in a loss of confidence and a fire sale of players. This means with 20 more points we could be safe. The problem is how liquid is Baz? Does Baz know himself?
I shouldn't worry Hornets, Elton would never let you lot go into administration, a few million quid is pocket change to him !
I`m not sure we have had debt written off , merely redressed and re scheduled ,I think the 13m owed is still there!and will only increase as each week that goes by , hence why any saleable asset will be sold and why we should be using our youngsters more ,so we can prepare them for sale as well! Sorry Dan but the market place and cold hard finance will be with us for a lot longer yet!
SEJ has done his bit , and does help out with the odd concert revenue, However in the last bunfight between Lord Ashton and the Russos nearly took us into admin , nothing was heard from his quarter!
I don't criticise SEJ as he helped make Watford what it is today - an established second tier club that considers falling into the third tier appalling. When I started watching the Horns we had only ever been 3rd tier or lower. However it puzzles me that he does not want to chuck any more of his money at Watford. I would have thought that if I were worth 3 or 4 hundred million or whatever he is then I would not mind losing a few million now and again. There are a lot of "celebrities" worth an awful lot less than him and who have never been as passionate as he is about his club who have financed a lot more. Still as I say that is just an observation not meant to be a criticism as he does not deserve any
