Confirmed this morning by Hurst (season long loan). Generally I've been opposed to loan signings but that's largely because never in a million years would Mick have brought in a player of this quality. I did follow the England Youth Team and watch quite a lot of matches over the last few years and Chalobah's generation are so creative and comfortable on the ball (even more so than that of his brother) this is an incredible start. An outstanding talent.
I can't say I'm quite as positive about this.. Mainly becuase he is a player we would never be able to afford to sign permanently, which is usually a bonus of the loan market, but at 18 I don't think he'll necessarily be at that sort of standard (consistently) whilst he's with us. Reminds me of the Maitland-Niles loan, where he was very good for a spell, but struggled to cope with the rigors of a 46 game championships season
No complaints from me for this move, really. Trevor Chalobah is technically proficient, he has lots of potential, he's an England youth international who was part of the U19 EUROs success, and he is a versatile player able to play at centre-back and also in central midfield. Although I do hope he isn't the first of a host of young loan signings from the top flight, as we do have enough quality in our academy to be providing those players with a chance in the first team over the course of the new season.
Unbelievable really. He's been probably the most promising player we've had over the past couple of years.. But on the other hand a decent profit. Personally I'd keep him and build a defence around him. Hopefully (Most of) that money will be used to reinvested
