Ally McCoist has today, 10/09/2015, agreed to terminate his contract as Manager of Rangers.

Rangers FC - Club Statement (Ally McCoist)

This is in keeping with what I expected, that when it came to a choice, Rangers or Himself, Ally would always put Rangers first.

Sadly he was not able to progress as a Manager to the extent he did as a player, great players do not neccessarily become great managers, but he became more than just a Manager.

During the financial turmoil Rangers have been through, Ally McCoist became and was the one reliable constant in an uncertain and variable world.

Many Thanks for your services to Rangers FC, Ally McCoist.

Aye good auld Ally. Putting the club before himself, the wee soul. Ok maybe about a year too late but hey ho.

Larry son, are you in the care in the community system per chance?

A whole 3 months before his gardening leave expires. What a magnanimous gesture.

Of course, this leaves him free to stage a coup in central Africa with 'Mad' Mike Hoare and indulge in other mercenary activities.

Most gardeners actually chuck it around this time of year. I think they go into hibernation or something and reappear with the daffodils. I may be wrong about the timing as global warming has had an effect.

I'm with Baz on this one.

03/06/2016 : It would be a rum do if Ally McCoist ended up at Hibernian (!), though the article mentions jobs in the English Championship, not the Scottish one. During his management at Rangers Ally McCoist became more than just the Manager. He was the one fixed point in a world in turmoil. Sadly his abilities as a manager did not match up to his abilities as a player, being yet another case of 'great players do not necessarily become great managers'.
Nevertherless I thank Ally McCoist for his long service to Rangers FC and wish him well in his future career.
