*groans* another one season wonder up from playing at Championship level - first Carroll, then Adam, now Allen
This is a little different to the other deals though, Rodgers has worked with Allen already. No one at the club had worked with Carroll or Adam I share concerns about the price tag
I feel the same; it's not that he's not a decent player, it's just that if we want top four, we need proven quality....and £15m seems like an awful lot for someone who hasn't played at the top level for long at all. Hope we're both wrong as it does look like he's on his way.
Allen is a lovely, skilled, cultured midfielder. He's also 21 I think. Good signing if true. He made our midfielders looks stupid on the final day of the season.
One: lets see if it happens, two; at what price and more importantly Three; let's not second guess a manager who's team hasn't kicked a ball in Anger yet eh? I can't wait until this sh*te is over so people can question real things like why we won/lost/drew a game instead of how rubbish our manager is for maybe possibly probably not signing a player.
I'm a big fan of Allen and made a point of watching him last season. He's is a very gifted footballer and better than any of our midfield other than Gerrard and Lucas. This would be a brilliant signing and give us a midfield of... --------Lucas-------- Gerrard----------Allen He works hard can pass and tackle.
That midfield is brilliant all three have such great qualities if we get him my hopes for the season will go up big time.
And the back-up players to that little trio...? Shelvey, Henderson, Spearing, Adam, Cole, Suso, Aquilani (see signature), etc. Suddenly, we have some squad depth in midfield and we've had it in defence for a while. Just need the front line sorting and we aren't exactly short of players there either - Suarez, Borini, Bellamy, Downing, Pacheco, Sterling, Carroll (?), etc Good age mix too (31, 25 and 21)
GCS I can see maybe Adam moving on if we get Allen as you say we are overloaded can't play them all. We need Spearing to cover Lucas but after that I'd prefer to give Henderson and Shelvey time on the pitch other than Adam.
If our bid is true, it means he either wants out of Swansea or that someone else has bid, doesn't it.
I reckon Henderson, Allen or Gerrard could sit in the DM spot to cover so long as it isn't a long lay off for Lucas like last season Can't say I'd be bothered about Adam going but I would like to see Spearing stay. He isn't a great player but he puts his heart and sole into everything, he is a local lead and won't be on massive wages. These are the sort of players we need to keep hold of to boost the squad numbers, Man Utd have done it for years too
