Unless there's more to come, it doesn't seem there's much wrong with what he's said, if third party ownership ends with a transfer, I don't think there's an issue.
Isn't it more about him being 'for sale'? Regardless of the veracity of the advice he gave the undercover reporters the nature of the meetings leaves a nasty niff. It's going to be trial by media now and that will decide whether he stays or goes. Depends on how nice or how nasty he's been to reporters in the past.
Anyone who, 1 month after being named the national team manager, sells his services for £400k, explains how to get around transfer rules, criticises his bosses and makes fun of his predecessors involuntary speech impediment, is a grade A ****. I'd have expected nothing less from the man.
Frankly, he should resign, even if technically he had done nothing wrong, his credibility is damaged now, and how can he get the respect of the players after this?
I think you are right. This is incredibly poor judgement; he likes to come across as a man of the world, but comes up very short with this. Thought better of him, disappointed. He should resign.
And this is 1 month into the job, imagine what he'd be like once he's got his feet under the table 2 years in? The arrogance of the man knows no bounds. What a massive ****er.
Can't believe Alan Brazil is having a go at journalist "snakes" over this. Allardyce went voluntarily into this meeting and shot his mouth off over pure greed and arrogance. Nothing else. He could've said no to the meeeting and that would be that. Pathetic.
After reading the whole article, I can't really see anything in there to nail him to a cross for, all the sensationalist elements are very much over egged and ultimately don't actually involve Allardyce. The 3rd party issue, all he does is point out it still goes on across most of the globe, giving an example but clarifying it stopped when Valencia transfered. The criticisms of the England team and set up are spot on, and echo the thoughts of virtually everyone who watched us at the Euros, and the comments on Wembley are utterly correct too. Nice to see the media trying to **** another manager in the arse mere months into the job innit,
Oliver Kay @OliverKayTimes An alternative view on the Sam Allardyce story. Embarrassing? Yes. Uncomfortable? Yes. Scandalous? No
