There are cash turnstiles on Sunday. There are no cash turnstiles for 'Allam-owned-Hull City' fans. Also eggchasers can take their beer into the stadium. Football fans cannot. The SMC lost over £1m last year subsidising rugby league games and prices. It has to stop.
To be fair, being unable to take beer into the stadium for City matches has nothing to do with Allam.
I know that but it doesn't make it right and I didn't suggest it was AA's fault. Gwilym LLoyd said tonight on RH that's its because RL is ' a catergory B' sport. What a load of bollocks. Its about selling beer in the stadium, beer sales that FC take a percentage of. Catergory B,C or Y, its supposed to be entertainment and the law should apply to everyone or no-one. I see it as discrimination. The law is an ass. Why are RL fans seen as different to football fans in the same stadium, in the same city, under the same licensing regime and police force?
The regulations which stop beer being consumed in the stadium are national ones, so there is nothing that can be done about other than the law changing. Until recently the KC was the only stadium which didn't allow alcohol inside the stadium for rugby league matches. Other stadiums used for football and rugby of both codes allow alcohol inside the stadium for rugby whilst it isn't allowed for football. Personally I think it is ridiculous. Someone can carry hot drinks which would land on somebody's head in the row in front if they slipped and dropped them which would be far worse than having some bitter or lager spilt on you.
Agree stupid draconian laws. Like the one about not allowing alcohol on bus trips and trains carrying people to sporting events. But not all sporting events, just those that grab the headlines. Its even crept into the gentlemen's game of cricket. Searched like a suspected terrorist on entry to the ground, and for what? Offensive weapons? smoke bombs? No, the fear that someone who has paid upwards of £100 for a day ticket might have the audacity to bring their own alcohol into the ground and therefore deny the breweries the £4 or £5 they want for a pint of piss in a plastic container. I went to 'an event' at City Hall recently, no body searchers, no one rifling through the wifes handbag, no police or shaved headed stewards itching for confrontation, no segregation or CCTV, just a load of people out for a nights entertainment. Anyone travelling to WHU on Sunday and paying £40 plus to get in will get treated like a criminal for doing so. When they should be welcomed with open arms. And the discrimination between RL fans and football fans in this city are all part of it. The longer it is allowed to continue the worse it will become.
heck i've seen someone spill a hot coffee on themselves rather, but.. they ****ing screamed to ****.. can't blame them like i really don't understand this about a pint.. if it lands on you, atleast it's ****ing cold but boiling hot coffee/tea is allowed, and doesn't beer sponsor the fa? can't understand it it's why so many people are late for kick off and second half kick off

Given the choice a lot of RL fans would prefer that fans could not take alcohol into the ground. Alcohol can make well mannered individuals into mindless thugs (I know a couple of City fans like that) and anything which reduces consumption at a match is fine by me. I like my alcohol, but I'd happily see it banned completely at football & Rugby matches. As for buses & trains, it only takes one prat who can't handle his drink to cause problem.......I saw one "fan" of another club not so long ago grab a female member of train staff by the throat because she wouldn't serve him alcohol on a "dry" football train & by the state of him I'd say he had already had way too much..problems on a bus could have serious consequences. Alcohol allows people to lose both inhibitions & self control
well yes, that's a different problem indeed would more fans buy beer, if they could take it into the stands? and unfortunately, some people are violent under the alcohol.. i've not witnessed any of that, but banning it at the stadium? seems over rule
Personally I don't understand why anyone wants to drink the beer on sale at the KC, (or most other venues for that matter). It is all vastly over-priced disgusting piss! But like NorthFerriby says, there are unfortunately far too many who drink just to get drunk and cause problems rather than to actually enjoy the drink. Hence, why I rarely venture into city centres, (esp on Fridays and Saturdays) and do most of my drinking at home, with friends who appreciate quality drinks and social company. It's just not worth the agro to over-pay for low-quality drinks whilst being hounded by drunken yobs. The last matchday drink I had was a pint of Jaipur at Euston Taps just after the FA Cup final. Before that it was with my late Dad at the Lion & Key in the Old Town, just after the Cardiff promotion match. Now that is a decent pub with quality ales. I remember watching Guiseley FC in the early 90s when it was voted as having the best bar in non-league football. You could take a pint of hand-pulled ale out onto the pitch-side then. So I ask again, why does anyone want to drink any of the ****e on sale at the KC, even within the confines of the concourse? I'm all for sales of quality micro-brewery ale however.
yep you're exactly right town is too full of aggressive losers, old town, lion and key, walters, black boy and hawkes ( my personal favourite) all decent proper pubs. sorry for your loss, but your dad drank in decent pubs.. society nowadays is all about ****ty tacky pubs, cheap lager and vodka.. such ashame

The booze ban is nothing to do with spilling it ffs. Its because of the 70s and 80s. Sadly there are some who would love to take us back to those days. It only takes one handful of drunken ****wits in a ground to cause mayhem. If you can't see that, maybe its because you're part of the problem. If you dont like the law, lobby your local MP. If Dr Allam is indeed sticking the boot into FC, I firmly believe this alone warrants a statue of the great man outside the KC.
The potential for trouble due to alcohol isn't serious enough to inconvenience anyone other than football fans. The law is ridiculously heavy on football fans. You can't be arrested on suspicion of being a terrorist without evidence, but you can be arrested of being a football hooligan without evidence. Equally you can be stopped from travelling to European games, but suspected terrorists can't be stopped from going to Syria and then coming back.
