I'd batten down the hatches because it could get a good bit nastier looking over the next month or so before it gets better.....

 

I know. The thing is most of us thought "Ok, we'll probably lose against City, Utd and maybe arsenal, but we should beat WBA" and we've been slaughtered especially this 2nd half. I know the ref has been ****ing awful but that shouldn't detract from how toothless we have been. Also Downing starting and no Sterling on the bench is frankly stupid.

 

it's exactly how Swansea were against us last season, tiki taka here and there all over the pitch for 70% + possession but toothless and a couple of moments of brilliance from Cisse nailed them. I hope that this doesn't transfer over to 'Pool and fail, though when Allardyce tried his tactics outside Bolton they were an abject failure.

 

Early days yet but **** me we were wasteful in the first half, we still need a ****ing striker who can deliver, that's a massive problem

After one game...? Didn't both Arsenal and Tottenham start very poorly last year but both finished in the top four didn't they...?

Just for the record, I've predicted sixth

 

They had good squads though, we don't No matter what deluded people say, our squad isn't good enough, as is proved so far.

 

I predicted 7th. Even though it's hard to see, there were positives in that game (1st half)

 

Where the **** have I said we'll get 4th on this thread? I think you're making things up as you go along. The only thing you've got as an argument against me is something you've made up in your head in order to convince yourself that you're right and I'm wrong. Laughable stuff.

I predict we will stay up

 

Positives - We didn't lose 4-0, Pepe Reina looked good and possibly returning to his best form, we looked dangerous with 11 men, good in possession and Joe Allen looked good while we had 11 men.

Negatives - Stewart Downing was poor again in my opinion, Skrtel was too easily troubled by Shane Long, Martin Kelly needs to start building on the early promise he showed under Kenny, and we still need someone who can stick the ball into the back of the net on a regular basis.

Another negative is obviously Agger missing for our next game (or next 3 games, not sure how it works) which is against Man City (H), and he could possibly miss the games against Arsenal (H) and Sunderland (A)

 

Did anyone honestly think Miracles had happened in 2 months?

I've been encouraged by what we saw in preseason but the real test was always today and we've been given a good slapping by a team "we should be beating" except we haven't been beating these teams for the majority of the last two decades!!!. Well good! the hype and talking sh*te is over. Welcome to LFC BR.

If I remember rightly BR got some crap on here for trying to highlight how much work needs to be done to this team.

It's a long long project BUT.

This is only 3 points, 1st game of season. Arsenal only drew against a team THEY should beat.

Could we do with some quality players brought in? Yes but I don't think they're coming this year. I think BR is going to have to earn his money & rep & work with what he's got and try and get close enough to top 4 to convince players next year it's just a little push more.

Does this mean top 4 is out of the question, waaaay to early to say that but I haven't seen many say we expected it this year but maybe I'm doing the realistic=defeatist thing I'm accused of.....

 

The "1st game of the season" excuse is poor, Fulham and Swansea just had their first games too, except they both won 5-0.
