It's all getting very confusing at the moment, we have 4 days of the transfer window remaining, we are rumoured to be chasing various strikers and have recalled one loanee, where is it all going to end up, LJ is being very low profile, just the odd quip we are looking at the option of signing a striket if they are affordable, right personality and available. Latest rumours ~ Leon Clark - Sheffield Utd - £2m ? Scott Hogan - Aston Villa - £9m ? Kieffer Moore - Barnsley - £4m ? Recalled ~ Antoine Semenyo - Newport - Rumoured Man Utd & Chelsea interest at £1m plus. Time is running out, will we sign anyone? or is it all just hor air, we wiil all know soon butI just wish...........
The proof will be in the pudding Wiz and like you it appears to be down to the wire stuff. The transfer window is usually a minefield, especially for clubs like ours, and sometimes I wonder why we bother to get involved, and unless Lee has some super hot deals where we are not competing against just about every other team of our level I have a suspicion that we may be non participants. Hurry up and wait seems to be the credo for us and I hope we just stay competitive for the remainder of the campaign despite what happens over the remaining few days of the window.
Seems to me that the club is acting the right way - if the deal isn't right then don't go for it. Certain individuals will cry about us not having ambition for refusing to spunk over the odds in fees and wages for the wrong player(s), but we've gotten ourselves into the position we're in by being smart and picky and I see no reason good enough to change that. It's very easy to waste money and not be as competitive and well-placed as us - the best examples currently are probably Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest, who both ought to be pushing for automatic promotion, or playoffs at minimum, but have instead squandered the significant financial advantages they've had over their peers. If the target is right then yes, it's a good time to go for it because it could increase our chances of playing Premiership football, but if not, it'd just be an expensive mistake that could even go as far as disrupting the harmony of the squad that has done so well.
We've never been much good at wasting money Nick and long may it continue. Now just wait for those who think we have in the past, and even if we did I hope we learnt from those errors.
The balance of the squad seems pretty good, think we could just do with cover for Fam, I’m happy they seem aware of it too, as others have said only if a good fit and reasonably priced.
I think this is the first time I can say with all honesty that I think we are well aware of what we are doing and what else needs to be done. Good luck Lee and the rest of the mob involved in navigating a transfer minefield.
We are on a roll at the moment so yes, if the right player comes along but nothing that will disrupt the current squad, which look as if they're beginning to gel..
