We were too quiet all around. The whole stadium was too quiet today. We weren't even out-sung by United, as their team is barely surviving and so their fans were nervous as well, but they do have a few world-class players that can change the game at the drop and they did that. Weren't we supposed to be fortress? Our subs were a mistake against their subs. Caulker never should have come on, but I understand how Dunne may have been knackered after the first half. Niko has good touches and decent passes but was also too slow. And Adel! He should have played all game. Shameful how we didn't play Hoilett or Zarate, and Adel sooner, United didn't exactly look coordinated at first, we could have shaken them up with some pace and criss-crossing up front to help out Charlie. Granted, Bobby's hold up play was decent, but they closed us down pretty well and took the ball off us. Fer did bugger all defensively, I didn't even know he was in the game until he was in the middle going forward in the first 15 minutes. Obviously we are lacking defensively, more than up front. If the back could hold the ball and control it more and dictate the pace, build up with more patience than trying to putt hopeful little lazy balls over the top or jabby passes up the middle circle, we would be a better side like all good sides do at the back. But that's how low our confidence is, back there, that we punt everything like a school-boy team. I sort of understand how Harry wanted us to be more "direct" but we have got to learn to control the pace of the game and hold onto the ball more and be patient and not force those punts. Pace, pace, pace. Harry's too worried about having enough big-bodies, I think, rather than just playing smaller guys with pace (he needs to watch how Barcelona works it fine with the smaller, quicker players). And we have those pacey ones! I can only pray that we do well from here on out and get enough points to stay up.
I have to disagree..we were not quiet where I was... Well done fans... Will not disagree with rest...
Hard to disagree. I thought it was much quieter than normal. Hard to see how Bobby was going to be as effective against a back pacey back three as he is normally. Was crying out for some more 'creative' play throughout the game, be it Nico, Adel or Vargas tucked behind Austin instead of being on the wing. Can't put Hoilett in that list as he has been a complete shambles recently.
It's hardly a surprise. We've been out sung by a lot of clubs at home this year, in particular palace and villa. Leicester gave it a good go as well. I've got too much to say on the match, will share my two cents at some point!
I was listening on the radio at work and I couldn't hear the crowd at all, the radio commentator also pick up how quite it was.
Well it wasn't a very exciting game, but I've heard LR a lot quieter recently, and there was no concerted criticism of the team or manager.
