    With the World Cup on the horizon we should try to cobble together the best players you've seen over the years. No rules but we'll probably be looking at 3 keepers, 7 defenders, etc. Everyone can name their own 23 but it would be good if we could, by the end, agree on the best 23 between us.

    We can do the same for Brazil, Germany, Italy, Spain, France and Argentina on separate threads.

    I didn’t see these two play but hopefully some on here did, Banks and Shilton would have to be the goalies

    Shearer and Linekar strikers. Sheringham maybe, Kane could get there in future

    Lots of midfielders, scholes, Gerrard and Lampard very good 2000 onwards but there were some good players pre-2000, Gazza

    Oh right, didn’t see that post until after mine but nothing to do with the names I put, I thought you were on about mine. TBH barely any players play well for England so have to look at club form or I wouldn’t be able to scrape a squad together
