I can't think of many that are in our budget, or who do actually want to come to this part of the country? Ebanks- Blake? DJ Campbell? My point being that people are calling for us to buy a striker, but i don't see names.
Ebanks blake looked a right fat bastard when he came on for Wolves against us. I've always liked Kevin Doyle but it all depends how long their contracts are and how much they are on. I said awhile back we need two strikers in, i would have gone for Mcgoldrick, top scorer in league 1. Ipswich have got him on loan for the season and buying him then. Any new forward we bring in cant be worse than the situation now. Our captain is clearly unhappy playing further forward. Simmo cant hit a barn door and Prozzy, much as i want him to succeed hasnt got it.
Thats what i mean, its all well and good people saying we need a striker, but if there isn't one out there to sign then we are stumped.
It's going to be either from a foreign club or some kid, personally I think if we are getting desperate we should be looking at the lower leagues, maybe Donaldson would do a job? I know it's a bit left field, but he's scoring in the league just below us & how many times have we seen a striker come good in their mid 20's, someone else take a punt on them & it pay off? We did it with McLean, didn't really work, having said that, he seems to be the only one who gets into these positions that the balls going into, even his seeming inability to score from point blank has to change at some point. So if no one comes in, we may as well give him a shot up top. Unless SB is seriously looking at the emergency loan window.
Need to bring in Gedo, he at least seems interested in coming here. Then its all down, unfortunately, to the final day. We'll just have to wait for the phone call from a club saying that a certain player is available to loan.
Most available strikers named in my '3 phases of the final week of the transfer window' thread: http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/193074-The-3-phases-of-the-final-week-of-the-transfer-window
Yeah i like the look of Steve Morison and would think we NEED to take a chance with Gedo, he could be ****, he could be the missing piece that gets us up.Other than those two i can't think of anyone realistically that we could get.
Agreed. Donaldson has scored something like 19 goals in the league below us. He must be better than the ****e we have up front.
Might be worth a punt, saw him play against Bradford this season and he finished a chance very nicely.
We haven't got a clue how good this Gedo is but he may be worth the chance, Morrison would be excellent and he is my number 1 choice, I wouldn't have minded Henderson and wood who i said on this forum a year ago that we should go for him, however we didn't so like many on here say how many good strikers are available? i would imagine if it gets to the last day we may end up trying to get a young striker in on loan from the premiership but its a gamble. Its all guess work we might even end with no one
We know he scored more than the likes of Gyan, Eto'o, Kanoute, Odemwingie, Drogba, Kalou, Yakubu and even the mighty Manucho in the 2010 Afcon.
What is the situation with Matty Fryatt? Is he doing any form of light training or is he just tucked up warm in the Midlands.
To be fair that's not really our job, we have scouts to pick out targets. The fans are right to point out we need a striker, it's hardly fair to then criticise them for not being able to provide a list of potential targets. Let's face it, how much of the mindless transfer speculation by fans actually has any substance?
The majority of transfer speculation comes from when a player scores for a team or is on TV & is highlighted to have had a good game, maybe mentioned in a match report, here's a name that'll be popping up soon, Jonathon Obika.
