Worrying times for Spurs fans. http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/spurs/Tickets/ticket-news. West Brom, Newcastle and Norwich: all Saturday afternoon games... 3pm, 3pm, 530pm are on general sale. And so far they have only optioned half their allocation for the United game, another Saturday KO. What has happened to the mythical 20k waiting list for season tickets?
Their support is about the same size as Villa and Everton's. The supposed 20,000 strong waiting list as you say is a myth. Just as mythical as Arsenal selling out every game at the Emirates
ManU had trouble again shifting all their season tickets. They'll still fill out with tourists like swarbs going to 1 game a season. Liverpool have introduced a new pricing structure. Higher for top games and lower for lesser games to try and boast their attendance for games v Wigan etc. Funny really,we sold out our season tickets in record time but are struggling to sell Reading...although I think a lot haven't realized it's been brought forward.
If you are a certain level of member at THpurs: Gold, Silver or Europa, you are automatically on the wait list.
It's because they're cheap which is in keeping with their budget already. The Lidl of the premier league.
Arsenal do sell out every home game. The problem is ST holder not turning up.A survey done last season stated that 400 club members go to one game or less a season.I know for a fact that some touts have memberships.
Newcastle is an away game at 5.30pm on Sat night ,not a home game...and is live on TV. If you go into see what tickets are available there are just over 50 in total. As for games not selling out ... all clubs are having problems cos we can't all be as rich as roman and all london clubs charge way too much. Chelsea advertise CL matches on talksport as they can't sell them cos they price them too high. West ham did the same re their season tickets. And the arsenal situaution is from ST holders selling individual matches tickets back to the club who failed to sell them cos they asked too much. This is a serious problem cos they are pricing out ... I went to games as a kid in the early 80's and try to go now still, but can rarely afford to and can only take my kids to 1 game a season (2 if we get a very small club in the 3rd round of the FA Cup).
Ticket, schmickets! Who cares already! When the mighty Spurs juggernaut starts a-rollin' those tickets will sell themselves. Can you hear that powerful engine revving behind the garage doors, lads?
I agree with your sentiment entirely and the problem of football in financially but in fairness last season we sold 3,500 to STH and members with ease for that same fixture which was incidentally same month as Christmas and also a 12.45pm (making it even harder to get to than 5.30pm) and also live on Sky. More people have Sky than ESPN
They do technically because it's based on tickets sold but not all turn up. As you say touting is a huge problem at Arsenal and we have it here at Chelsea as well, it's the price of success.
5puds have always liked a bit of a backdoor action: going back to Glenda and Garth (before Glenda was saved by the lord and Garth was saved by the queens at the BBC)
