Thought this was an interesting piece, not just for RichardG's - entirely correct - summary but also to get a flavour of other fans best and worst memories. Interesting to see Maloney named as Wigan's best, I really would quite like to see him stay: https://amp.theguardian.com/football/2017/jul/03/premier-league-fans-all-47-clubs-best-worst-moments
For me the worst moment(s) were everytime we played LFC and the local inadequates raised their heads. Best moments? Beating LFC last 3 times at the KCOM fair and square (despite massive resource disparity)
Fulham at home August 2008. Getting played off the park for first 20 mins thinking, **** this is going to be a long hard season. Then Geo with our first PL goal that lead to opening day glory. First on MotD as well.
I liked our second half demolition of Fulham at the KC. The first half gave no indication whatsoever of what was about to happen. I also enjoyed smashing Middlesbrough at home this season - couldn't give a toss about getting the odd freak result against Arsenal - the yard stick is the other clubs. I have enjoyed our regular beatings of Liverpool. I don't expect to be back in the PL anytime soon. We're losing too many of the current squad to make a decent fist of it this year. Continuity is important in football.
Dowie being appointed was up there as a real low point, as was starting the season with 11 senior outfield players last year, but hard to argue with the name change bullshit, since then there's been no way back between us and the Allams.
Yeah that's the reality of it. There really is no way back for a lot of us. I think the Allams know that too, so I don't expect any attempt at reconciliation.
Wembley, May 2014. First 15 minutes of the game, which I missed because I was outside having a smoke, meant the half-time highlights were the greatest moments. Worst: Bruce not getting the luck with his effort in the same game. Never, ever, did I imagine seeing the lads in the final in my life.
So you come over from Canada (?) to see Hull City in the FA cup final (that still gives me goosebumps as I type it) and you miss the first 15 minutes to have a smoke!! Proper smoker! I gave up I think 5 years ago, but it reminds me what lengths we'd go to feed our fix.
For this relatively new fan, the low point is easy . . . the 3-2 loss away to Portsmouth in 2010. Coughed up 3 points to a relegated side a week after coughing up a late point against Arsenal the week before. Suddenly I noticed handwriting on the wall . . .
It's extremely worrying for me that fully agree with you . Only Sheffield Utd rank above the red scousers as a team I dislike immensely . So pleased that our first victory over them in 2013 contributed to Liverpool and poor Stevie G not winning the premier league .
No mate, I watched it on telly (except the 1st 15 minutes as mentioned) over here. I got my wires crossed as I was at my mate's place ( also from Hull) and I wasn't allowed to smoke...his family objected - quite rightly. I wish i'd been back home ( I was a season ticket holder) but just couldn't make it.
dowie was a reasonable last throw of the dice that didn't come off. relegation had been inevitable for months.
Best: Any of those away days in the Autumn of 2008 were pretty special. Even the defeats, like the one at Man United, still felt like great days out. More recently, the home wins over Liverpool have been impressive. Worst: Any of the Burnley or Sunderland home defeats. Depressing stuff all round!
