Wish the club would think about a plaque or monument to recognise the whole 73 team and the last man to score a winning goal at wembley for us and the whole NE. Stokoe has one on his own but what about the team?

    Never going to happen mate.
I think the Stokoe statue is representing the whole '73 squad.
To be fair it manages to do this very well. Whenever I see it I can't help thinking where he was running to...And the memories come flooding back.
I don't think one Sunderland player actuallty thought they would win that day. You see it on their faces, they really really couldn't believe what they had just done.

I have the BBC copy of the match on DVD with David Coleman commentating. Its a bloody tear jerker every time I watch it. I think think however, that ITV have the best footage of the Stokoe/Monty moment from what I have seen over the years with Brian Moore commentating. I dont think a full copy of the ITV version exists doest it?

As for the Stokoe statue, it represents the FA Cup Final win but doesnt represent the players for me. I think a separate plaque near the main entrance would be better. After all, they are STILL the last team form the NE (not some smog filled north Yorkshire club) to actually lift a trophy and should be recognised for me. it would hardly be cost prohibitive and maybe some of that Gyan monthly donation could go towards it.

Is it the anniversary of his passing?

Agree about the team statue - long overdue.

Not quite the anniversary Mackemman. He died on the 11th September 2007.
