On the 1st of August we have yet another farcical day for horse racing when we get the all ladies raceday at Carlisle. A full card of racing in which male jockeys are basically banned from doing their work.

If racing was a two tiered system like Tennis or Football then this would be fine, but we get to see the likes of Gannon, Turner and Ryan all riding day in day out against men and winning. We have an equal opportunities sport that is being hijacked by this disgraceful 'feminine' events

First we have this Filly Factor malarkey with lady commentators (not that they will become a commentator) and now an all ladies racecard.


Basically our sport is already high on the list of equal opportunity sports and doesn't need these sexist (ask a feminine their attitude to these events). Woman compete because they are good enough and shouldn't be treated differently from their male counterparts.


I am insulted once again by horse racing in the UK. It seems to be a regular occurrence at the moment
 
Well I certainly won't be risking any money, don't get me wrong there are a few lady riders who are reasonably capable, like Turner and Gannon, but there is no way they can get a full card of capable lady riders!

It will look like an audition, for a Roy Rogers movie :biggrin:
 
I agree this is all wrong. Imagine the uproar if in this day and age there was a meeting solely for male jockeys.

Tam - I not sure about your's either (have to wash the mud off first to confirm). Mine looks OK though!

The 3 fillies pictured are Turner, Sophie Doyle and Laura Pike. It always makes me chuckle incidentally when I hear the latter named mentioned as a jockey as I know a Laura Pike and she’s about 15 stones.

How they could have done such promotional work without including the lovely Amy Ryan incidentally baffles me. Can see her going through the card at this dappy fixture as her creditable competition will be minimal.

Meanwhile, can the horses running only be owned and trained by fillies as well?!? Somewhat double standards if these types aren’t similarly restricted.
 
Crickey, that day when dear old Katia won the last race at Bath and netted me a small fortune seems like ages ago now!
 
Thwe whole thing is obscene - why would anybody pay cash to go and see Alexandra Burke? In all seriousness Nassau Board is right - it's yet another example of how UK racing is embarrassing itself and, in the process, alienating its bread and butter audience. If 8000 people turned up last year why is there any need to change it? It's a hideous PR gimmick and is actually pretty deemeaning to the betst female jockeys.
