Personally, I'd rather it was LUTV I was paying ..... https://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co...-sky-sports-reconsider-pricing-scheme-2999001
Yup, cheap if you're watching with family or friends. However, I'll say it again - I'd rather pay LUTV. Personally, I'd rather pay the extra to watch live than watch on the telly. Every time. Quite apart from the atmosphere, I don't have to rely on ball-watching cameramen - I can see everything, especially the off the ball activity, which for me is a huge part of watching a game. Perhaps I'm in a minority that likes this aspect.
So looking at next 3 games- Monday 19th October 2020 Leeds United v Wolves Premier League 20:00 Sky Sports Main Event / Sky Sports Premier League / Sky Sports Ultra HD Friday 23rd October 2020 Aston Villa v Leeds United Premier League 20:00 BT Sport Box Office Saturday 24th October 2020 Monday 2nd November 2020 Leeds United v Leicester City Premier League 20:00 Sky Sports Main Event / Sky Sports Premier League / Sky Sports Ultra HD So the box office game we'll have to pay for!!! Happy it's a Friday night though.
I think this is a scammy joke. Season Ticket Holders should get this free for a start so it should be sold by LUTV. If Sky/BT are expecting more revenues from pay per view then so too should clubs, but I suspect this is a way of the Prem not paying a rebate back because of all those missing fans and advwrtising revenues being lost
If my 15 quid ALL goes to the club I will buy it. If any of it goes to Sky/BT/Premier League/FA then bollocks to it.
Have to be honest I've really enjoyed all the extra games being shown live. Guess that's something to do with us being back in the PL as never really bothered watching it before. However following this PPV announcement I would have had to pay £14.99 to watch Villa v Liverpool last Sunday and therefore would have missed one of best matches of this and many a season. Those of us that subscribe to Sky/BT/Amazon have always paid too much for too little and now, just as it was starting to feel like the outlay was worth it, we're asked to pay more at a time when most of the population is struggling financially and/or psychologically. We all know that the international territories show every game live and in the UK & Ireland we've always sort to protect the income of the lower leagues by having a Saturday afternoon blackout. Which is probably right and proper but debatable as most fans would rather attend matches than watch on TV anyway. I've no problem with football charging for watching live games (although I probably should when thinking back to the days of BBC & ITV showing plenty of domestic and European games free to air), no, what irritates with this is, it's like they have forgotten we're living through a global pandemic and then the arrogance that fans will always dig deeper to watch their football. The PL would have been better seeking to enhance their relationships with the UK broadcasters with a view to increasing income at the next contract renewals due to more matches being shown live, which is something that could continue. Instead the PL clubs seek to test the water with PPV and the broadcasters will make money by allowing their platforms to be used and charging service fees. Welcome to the thin end of the wedge.
I've only taken out subs for Sky PL footie & F1 racing. Discovered the hard way that you can't use the red button unless you have the full sport package, nor can you watch the Main Event channel (unless that event is ALSO being shown on your subscribed channel - which is not the case for these international matches).
DAZN have the rights to the prem here in Spain. They show every game, 10€ a month or 100€ a year. They also have other sports, moto gp, UFC etc. Watch on tv, pc ipad or phone. Not a bad deal.
