French racing and all equestrian events have been suspended until March 28th and no horses allowed to leave their yard. A potentially deadly epidemic of a strain of Rhinopneumonitis was first detected in Spain mid February is called EHV-1 and can cause equine herpesvirus myeloencephalopathy (EHM) in horses, an inflammation of the blood vessels that supply the brain and spiral chord
That's what my wife told me tonight. It would be crazy for it to apply to show jumping but not horse racing. Very contagious. I wouldn't want a racehorse of mine leaving the yard. But it does seem to be a joint decision of the FEI, the FFE and the SHF. Can't see any confirmation from France Gallop, which seems very strange.
She got it from the Irish NH Enthusiasts Facebook page and that seems to be fake news Even so, very odd that the show jumping organisations have acted quickly and racing hasn't
I saw the same on Twitter last night Ron, posted by a usually reliable source, so I think a lot of people believed it.
Yep, Easysland drifted to 8/1 on the exchanges after the news. It shows that fake news is dangerous!!!
