pompey v shrews 20.10.12 there are 2 L1 games on tuesday, bury v carlisle and orient v h/pool. shrews after capturing 3 points in the midlands derby must be cock a hoop at climbing from 21st to 15th in the league. we still have our usual problems up front, but surely morale and confidence will have been raised at a rub of the green going shrews way. pompey, who are temporarily without owners and in danger of having 10 points deducted will want to win as many points as possible. they are currently in 12 th place with 15 points, but the grim reaper may consign them to 23rd place, above bury, with 5 points. pompey league p12 w4 d3 L5 f18 a19 gd-1 points 15 pos. 12th. nb home gd f7 a7 results. kicked out of the cup 1-3 at home to lowly wobblers. pompey 2 crewe 0 mkd 2 pompey 2 yeovil 1 pompey 2 pompey 2 scunny 1 notts c 3 pompey 0 pompey 1 swindle 2 pompey 1 walsall2 crawley 0 pompey 3 pompey 0 oldham 1 a win for shrews could slot them in 12th place between pompey and walsall, but town may be satisfied with a draw. pompey top scorers. strikers mcleod 7 and rodgers! 3.and gyepes 3 defender
shrews will need to adjust to a bigger than normal crowd. i predict a 2-1 away win, morgan and parry. att. 12009 note in saturdays game rodgers provided a bradshaw moment coming on in the 87th minute! any news on gornell, winnall and jacobsons injuries?
well if we play like that again we might not be as lucky, i just cant see where the goals are coming from to be honest, we have too many players injured and too many players under performing and a couple who shouldn't be in this league, Parry and Weale cant carry them all through the season, tomany mistakes at the back Grandison and Hector made a couple but got away with it yesterday, and they are going to have a hand full on their plate with Wes Thomas has can cause defences a lot of damage Portsmouth...2...Shrewbury.....0 Wes Thomas (2) 12500
Hi guys, Pompey fan in peace. Just to warn you- we've been on a good run recently. We're unbeaten in five- four wins and a draw. As a result, our attendances have risen slightly, to around 15,000 these past couple of home games, so beware the Fratton Park faithful don't drown you out! (I'm sure your fans are loud and loyal too!) Izale McLeod, our striker, has seven for the season- and has scored in every one of our past five games in all competitions. Wes Thomas, our new loan signing from Bournemouth, has performed fantastically well so far. I believe he has 2 goals in three games now, so watch our for him! As for Luke Rodgers, he's not great, is he ?? Apples brought in Thomas to replace him, and he got as many goals in three games as Rodgers got in nine! And we've had referees give us a lot of decisions our way at Fratton Park this season, I admit it! Just to back that up, we've had five penalties awarded out past five games, although we missed all of our first four . Then we changed who took penalties, and Izale McLeod found the net! Good Luck for the game on Saturday. Any players we should look out for ?? May the best team win!
I would give a detailed low-down on us but about a sentence will do. We're pretty average and haven't won away for ****ing ages.
hi pompey-london, welcome to our boards, i notice your reference to 15000 gates, but you had less than 12000 watching pompey v crewe. on saturday. shrews players to watch out for are weale in goal, marvin morgan up front and all our players in between. i assume wobblers visit to pompey in the cup was a blip! take it from me shrews are very good at blips. do hope your pies are hot.
Kasule Driving School- we'll see about that! Let's see what happens when the game comes round on Saturday
no worries on opponents large gates. we played at the emirates last season after disposing of derby county away and swansea home. that was after our pre season friendly wins against man utd, wolves and birmingham. even this years friendlies have added the scalps of leicester wolves and birmingham. i think any pompey fans behind the goals should stand well back in case marvin morgan fires one of his "starbursts". we are not insured for whiplash injuries. mercifully we have not seen a starburst for some time but our marv is definitely due 1. i espect the best team will win, the shrews love a challenge! floreat salopia!
yep, our goalies on a roll and can stop most things at the moment (just as well), Parry is our only real threat, not only scoring but putting quality passes and crosses in too, Morgan will hassle your defenders get into a good scoring position...and then miss the target, the rest are blowing hot and cold at the moment, i don't think we will come back with any points but there again in our first half with Walsall i really didn't think we would get any from them either!!.....
eh up tinned hats i am trying to tell our man from pompey that our lads are the best things since sliced bread, and your comments are slightly at variance. remember what the sign said at the gay meadow, during the war. "careless talk costs goals!. but i agree 2 of our players are piss hot, doh! there i go again running down the lads again. i forgot all our lads are piss hot!
Well, beware of our strikers, Izale McLeod and Wes Thomas. They're in scintillating form at the moment, so your defense had better be alert! (They got both goals last game after 17 minutes, setting us up for a 2-0 win- including a goal after 70 seconds from Wes Thomas after McLeod's cross!
The ref lost control of the game, in all honesty. He booked 3 or four of theirs as well. Think he felt bad about giving us a debatable penalty, and thought he'd book our players to make up for it ..
2 goals in 17 minutes?, why are lads are still digesting their meal of triple beans on toast. still there should be plenty of end to end with a great atlosphere, parp, wuff, phart, if you know what i mean, floreat salopia!
and i do know a good helping, 3 tins, of baked beans is just the ammunition for our marv to fire in a couple of his renowned starbursts. our goalie youn weale refrains from beans, but is usually ready to go on 6 weetabix. i do hope the pompey pies are hot, nothing worse than lukewarm pies chilled by harbour breezes. come on you shrews breath on em, amwythig am byth. floreat salopia!
The pies are normally very hot - but in all honesty you'd be better off going to Mick's Burger Bar - it's just along from the away end - best cheese and bacon burgers this side of the Solent. Also - re the attendances, when the potential buyer/asset stripper (Chanrai) dropped out (alas only for 1 week) the attendance shot up to 18,000. As soon as he came back in to the mix the attendances dropped to about 11,000. Now the trust has been named as the preferred bidders to buy the club you can expect a really good atmosphere. Enjoy the game - but not too much
