According to the Sun & Daily Star today we entered the race to sign him

Mancity were "favorites" to sign him according to Udinese

& Now Barcelona have opened talks with Udinese about Sanchez

I guess thats sanchez out of the equation as he said he prefers a move to Barca...

So who are we actually going to sign...Chelsea want Modric too he could end up there

sneijder wanted by Us & Chelsea - couple of days ago he said he didnt want to leave inter then few days later he said "anything could happen"....

These are really good transfer targets but out of the 3 I would choose MODRIC

as he is prem proven !

Well I just hope we sign a good quality creative midfielder in the "Scholes" Role

I would be amazed if you are actually in for Sanchez. Wingers is the position you are most well stocked in.

I dont understand, If were going for Ashley Young which he has nearly completed his move why go for another winger in Sanchez?

I haven't seen much of Sanchez play but from reading what Tim Vickery says on bbc and many fans in Serie A this guy is going to be the dogs b0llocks. If Utd can get him instead of Young I can't imagine why ANY of you would be unhappy. Here come the:

    "Young is English though"

    "Young is Prem proven"

Was Ronaldo Prem proven? Was Nani? Was Rafael? Take a risk, if Barca wan't him that says it all IMO.

    Hope you get him.

Not left wingers. Nani isn't as good on the left as the right, Giggs is too old for the left wing now, and Park is a wide midfielder rather than an out and out winger. SAF liked to have at least one winger who can put the ball into the box consistently from each wing, and we don't really have anyone who can do that down the left right now.

Would have thought you would buy an actual left footed winger though, or someone who's delivery is very good with their left (like Young). Although Sanchez may be that player I have only even seen him on the right or in the middle.

Young doesn't cross with his left, he cuts back onto his right to put in an inswinging cross most of the time I've seen him play. Maybe SAF is planning to do the same with Sanchez, or possibly even convert Nani to the left? But yes, Young does have a lot more experience down the left than Sanchez.

Really prefer a natural CM instead of a winger who can play attacking mid.

I wouldn't believe all that. Sanchez is almost certain to go to Barca, but I still wouldn't be surprised if Modric or Sneijder, or even both, moved this summer. And now we are apparently being linked with Marouane Fellaini, Lassana Diarra and Javier Pastore, with De Rossi, Costa and Defour still possibilities. I'd be 90% certain that we'll get a new CM, but I doubt we'll find out who it is until late July or even early August.

Ferguson said last month we will sign 3 players. I believe them 3 players were De Gea, Young and Varane. Liverpool and Arsenal going in for Jones probably forced his hand into signing him this season instead of next. I honestly don't see anybody else arriving at Old Trafford. Sneijder would be my only wish.

Haven't Lens rejected our bid for Varane? I don't think SAF was necessarily looking for a centre back as a must, must have thought the time was right for Jones although I don't think he is better than Smalling and he needs to do what Smalling has done this season in order to move past Evans in the pecking order IMO.
I also think that we will buy a CM although who is anyone's guess. I may get some stick for this, but I honestly believe that with all our central midfield combinations that Carrick and Anderson were the best.

If that's the case then why have we also bid for Sanchez? I think the three players SAF was referring to were De Gea, a left winger (probably Young) and a centre mid. He wouldn't see Varane as a first team player immediately imo. After all, he also said that this year would be bigger than last year and we signed three players last summer if you include Bebe and Vermijl.
