Lot of rumours just appeared that a £15m (eh??) fee has been agreed for Mitrovic, personal terms to be agreed.

So we didn't buy the lad in January to save money? Just looks like desperation from a pathetic, woeful MD.

If this is true, it's motivated by one thing; popularity. They want to draw people back to buy tickets. Too little too late I'm afraid. We need at least 12 players in the summer. That is 12 quality players.

    Lee Charnley really is useless.

12 players minimum. It is going to cost Ashley a serious amount of money to ensure we stay away from relegation next season and that is ofc if we avoid it this season.

£15 million on a player like this is a no no for me though. We need to spread the money available for good players not one or two luxury players, which I believe Mitrovic would be.

Back to the days of Shepherd, if this is true. We need a good few players and haven't the budget to spunk £15m on one. I mean, it's positive, if true, it's just the "how positive is it really" and "why are they doing this as a priority?" that makes you wonder.

Of course, having an offer accepted doesn't mean anything. He still needs to agree to it, which I highly doubt he will.

Our last mega splurge of transfer fee was on a certain remy cabella.

Anyhoo, we dont need £15 million marque signings we need good solid players all over the pitch with the flair players we currently have.

I'd take 12 lower league players with fight, heart and a desire to win ahead of a marquee signing. Trophy signings are for one purpose; to excite fans and sell tickets.

    Like Burnley's first eleven......

TBH, all I'm interested in is Charnley fcking off and crawling into a hole somewhere. We have no DoF, no competent MD and more or less no board. We're supposed to have a continental model, yet don't have the staff. Spend money on that sh!t first, else it's just incompetent idiots making incompetent decisions - my immediate and probably accurate reaction is that Mitrovic isn't worth £15m when he's got to rely on Sammy Ameobi and Gabby Obertan, and is being "coached" by John Carver.

The club should accept that their attempt at a 'continental' model is flawed and doesn't work. We need a manager that controls everything; a dictator in terms of the playing side. Let the business people get on with the business. Leave on field matters to a manager. Let him pick players, sign players, sell players. Simple ****ing philosophy that has worked in this country for 150 years.

I would take him in a heartbeat, top young striker, will score a hat full of goals, just dont understand why he would come here as opposed to say Liverpool, Juve, Athletnico Madrid, Roma, or anyother good european team. If he does join, its for money and the chance to play his way to a very top club. I heard he has a bad attitude from a serbian mate of mine

Apparently any 'deal' is dependent on us retaining our PL status. If [and I stress IF] if he is stupid enough to join us, then we need to go a lot further. We need to shift the dead wood and build a team around this guy. We also need to bolster the squad to prevent injuries from destroying us. Of course, this all needs to be overseen by a good manager [**** the head coach tag; it doesn't work.]

Great. How is he at centre back? If we think Lascelles and a returning Saylor/Dummett are the answer then lord help us.

We need 3 centre backs, two left backs, another right back, a utility player, a couple of wingers, two centre midfielder's and a couple of additional strikers [Mitrovic if true and get Jordan Rhodes ffs.] Beef up the squad with quality and appoint someone decent to manage them.

Sorry folks, false alarm, Anderlecht have denied the story. Move along, business as usual, slap on the wrists for all of us in thinking somehow Charnley was anything but a glorified tea boy.

The club will have put the story out to make people buy tickets. The usual spin.
