Alex Smith has signed for Swindon and good luck to him.... The reports state that he was out of contract at Fulham and was reportedly offered a new one but decided to leave instead, if this is the case are we not due compensation????

I believe it might go to a tribunal, unless we can reach an agreement with Swindon. A tribunal would probably just award us a small nominal fee toward the costs we incurred training him.

It is sad to see Alex leave, but he would not have been considered an under-21 for the 13/14 season. The fact he signed for a League One team underlines the fact he was never going to be part of the 25 man squad. As such, I expect the contract offer was as much to ensure some kind of nominal compensation as it was a real attempt to retain him.
