He only joined the Board in February, seems it was a stop gap measure to be resolved this summer.

Newell wasn't a backer but an employee from what I can gather. Nothing to get me excited about, nothing to make me nervous either.

The digging around by fans across other forums uncovered Newall had gone. A few hours the same day the club come clean...
We mustn't believe these social network sites though.

I dug around Companies House website and Newall left on the 22nd June.If it hadn't been posted on other Forums i doubt the club would have posted it on the Official site.I posted it on Into the Valley this morning.I believe that Newall was the eyes of the backer, maybe i am wrong. There is obviously something going on as i have it on good authority from a very reliable source. Some of the posters on CL and other Forums have very good contacts. But if you choose to believe everything in the garden is rosy that is entirely up to you.

    They have & will...
I've been stunned by who the posters are, those who normally see everything rosy, telling us things aren't right... That is the the only point I've made about it, as I don't know anything else, but that's why it worried me.

The Alex Newall thing is the clincher, when he was appointed everyone accepted that he must our wealthy secret backer's eyes on the board (as that is exactly what he does for a living, look after super wealthy people's interests), and people were puzzled as to why he was appointed in February, clearly that was when our backer first start getting itchy feet about the way things were headed, maybe the rumours of supposed unpaid bills had started coming to light around then, either way if Alex Newall quit the board on June 22nd - which he did as you don't lie to Companies House - then that is also the time our mystery backer (be it Kevin Cash or someone else) withdrew from CAFC, even the biggest ostriches in here must see that, it's also telling that it was only when this was revealed on message boards by dickplumb this morning that the club were pushed into admitting it a few hours later, this happened ten days ago, why wasn't it revealed then, coincidentally one thing that was revealed on June 22nd was that Peter Varney was leaving the club, were the club scared that revealing both Varney and Newall had left that day would make the crisis obvious to everyone, even the ostriches, I rather think they were, in summary: the club is f***ed.

A very good post. Both these things happened on 22nd June, coincidence?I wouldn't say the club is F***ed,but there is certainly a cash flow problem.

Now what evidence do you have for that assertion, have you not been paid? can you provide any evidence that anyone else has not been paid?

Statements of this nature where there is no hard evidence to support them are simply defamatory and are designed to encourage people to lose confidence.
If this is your aim you are not a supporter of the club and are by definition someone who is trying to bring the club down.
Unless you have hard evidence and are willing to cite this, please do not start silly tittle tattle rumours - you are doing Millwall and Palace's job for them.

The fact that two directors have stood down does not always mean that there is a financial problem it could be a disagreement over investment policy, strategy, a desire to move to another ground down by the tunnel, even the price of season tickets. It could even be a planned departure taken early or the fact that because Alex Newell is a financial advisor to others he has a conflict of interest and he has had to resign. We do not have the information - so stop reading the tealeaves. The man on the bus to the cable car is not a reliable financial source either!

Why didn't the club announce Newall's departure when he left ten days ago, why did it take dickplumb posting it online this morning to force their hand, you make Millwall and Palace jibes but if it was down to Vichy ostriches like you there wouldn't even be a Charlton left to support, stick your head back in the sand while people like dickplumb try to save the club you purport to support.

I find your post both insulting and ignorant. How dare you question whether i am a Charlton fan or not.You know nothing about me,so don't make assumptions.I have supported Charlton for fifty one years,i also regularly watch the U18s and U16s.The two directors leaving is a by product of what has happened at the club.If you pm me i will give you more info. These things i have heard are from three RELIABLE sources not tittle tattle.

So you were the man on the bus to the tunnel then!

When there is EVIDENCE of a real problem rather than a suspected or imagined one then I will be amongst the first to man the barracades but whilst it is the in the ramblings of mystic meg I think I will pass.

the reason they didn't announce it is because they do not have to! Charlton Athletic Holdings Limited is a private company not a stock exchange listed company where it is a requirement to announce board appointments.

    And your point is????

Reg has also agreed to step down, they didn't have to announce that either until the day he departed (he hasn't as yet i beleive) but they did. If you wan't to look under the bed I am sure the bogey man is hiding something there. The unknown and the future are not always dangerous - save for those who beleive in the conspiracy! You know that one day soon CP may have a cold and take a day off, we might lose a match or god forbid one of the shareholders sells his stake to another investor and you will be proven right. Get a life!

because of all the rumours on the internet. Nobody knows of Newall, he was a temporary appointment who was always going to step down this summer, fans know of Reg so the club announce his departure on the OS but nobody has heard of Newall so they did not bother to post it on the OS.

The Club are recruiting a lot of staff for the banqueting suite and this has also NOT been announced on the OS, perhaps ALL club business should be posted during a quiet period on the transfer front?

You really do need to be clearer before coming back at me... The point isn't that difficult to understand... You stated "they don't have to announce it".. I stated they did, ten days later... So as usual we can all come to own conclusions...
I don't remember adding anything else, other than that fact.

    Fact:

    Varney Leaves
    Prothero joins
Pritchard and JJ sign new deals
Charlton bid just under 1million for Shackell (rejected)
    Investment in to youth system
    Newall leaves

    Rumours:

Charlton have 6million plus to spend
Charlton rebuff approach from west ham for Solly
    Charlton backers pull out
    Possible ground share with Millwall
Charlton go back on deal with player re wages
CP due to sign a new deal

Am I missing anything for either?
